I Love You Miss Genius ( Bonnie Shepard ) CHAPTER 6
I Love You, Miss Genius
Chapter 6
Bonnie began to shadowbox with aweâinspiring precision and fluidity.
She ended by punching a tree branch, managing to break it without disturbing the leaves.
Everyone was shocked.
Scottâs jaw dropped open.
They looked at Bonnie as if they had seen a monster.
âDid you get a good look?â
Bonnie stopped and looked at Orson.
The old man was impressed.
âYour moves were perfect! You must be a kickboxing expert.â
Scott cleared his throat and approached her, blushing.
âYoung ladyâuh, maâam, Iâm sorry if I offended you.â
Bonnie chuckled. âIâm not an expert. I just learned kickboxing to stay healthy.â
âCan you teach me some of your moves?â
âIâd like to learn too!â
Bonnie was soon surrounded by the old men, all eager to learn from her.
At that moment, a voice said, âSheâs just a phony.â
Bonnie looked toward the source.
A young woman who looked to be around 18 or 19 walked over. She was of average height, and a burly man almost two meters tall followed behind her.
âMind
your manners, Kay!â Orson chided.
âSheâs just a scammer, grandpa. Sheâs trying to impress you guys so she can swindle you!â
Kay stood between Bonnie and Orson and glared at her.
âSheâs not, okay? Her moves were perfect!â Orson said earnestly.
âYouâre too gullible, grandpa. She must have done this many times. I bet she only knows those moves.
âSheâs just pretending to be an expert so youâll pay to learn from her!â
âAre you sure?â Orson frowned.
Scott smacked his thigh and said angrily, âKay is right! How could someone so young be so good at
kickboxing? She has to be a phony!â
The others whispered among themselves while glancing at Bonnie.
âFuck off, or Iâll call the cops!â Kay Steele shouted as she shoved Bonnie away.
Bonnie didnât want to argue with them, but she was upset that they had called her a phony.
And that the young woman had told her to fuck off, too.
âDo you have proof that Iâm a scammer? Have I taken their money?â
âWell, if I werenât here, you would have done it, wouldnât you?â
Bonnie quirked her brow. âSo you have no proof. Do you think the cops will believe you?â
âI-â
Kay was stumped.
Bonnie continued, âAnd I can sue you for defamation, you know.â
âSue me?â Kay was in disbelief.
She had never seen such a shameless swindler before!
âSo youâre saying youâre not a phony? How about you spar with my bodyguard? Iâll believe you if you can beat him.â
âSure, but if he loses, you have to apologize to me.â
Bonnie wasnât a petty person, but she didnât like to be pushed around.
âAlright, itâs a deal! But if you lose, you have to apologize to me, my grandpa, and his friends.
âYouâll also have to do it live online, so everyone will know youâre a goddamn phony!â
Kay was convinced that Bonnie was an evil scammer who targeted the elderly.
Orson stepped closer. âJust let her go, Kay.â
âWe canât, grandpa! She might have targeted you because youâre a famous painter.â
A famous painter? Orson?
Bonnie realized the old man was a wellâknown painter.
Her grandmother liked him a lot, and her grandfather was a hardcore fan.
âJust leave her alone, all right?â
Orson didnât want to make a scene.
âBut grandpa, she-â
âI need to go to school soon. Are we doing this or not?â Bonnie interrupted them impatiently.
Chapter 6
Kay couldnât believe Bonnie was still trying to act tough.
âSpar with her, Milo. Donât hold back, okay?â
She had been going to tell him to go easy on Bonnie since she was a girl, but not anymore.
âYou asked for this!â Kay thought.
âYes, maâam.â
Milo cracked his neck, then his wrists, then his knuckles.
He was huge and fierce, and looked so scary that anyone would have run away in fear.
But Bonnie just frowned and said impatiently, âIâm in a hurry, okay? Just get on with it.â
âDonât you want to warm up first?â Milo asked, raising an eyebrow.
âNot if youâre my opponent.â
She was just stating a fact. She didnât mean it as an insult.
âHow dare you!â
Upset, Milo threw his huge fist at Bonnieâs face-
