Her Beautiful Innocence

I woke up because of a repeating and obnoxiously loud sound. I opened one eye, and found myself staring at a white ceiling. I sat up quickly, suddenly remembering where I was, and pressed the stop-button on my alarm clock. I'm not in my house. Well, I guess I am now, but I'm still not used to living here.
Me and my parents moved here a few days ago. My mom got promoted at her job and had to move offices. This town was just way easier and closer to her new office. That's why some of the boxes with posters for my walls and pictures of my family and me are still unpacked. I was way too lazy to do all that when we first arrived here.
When we initially came here, I only wandered around town and met some of the neighbors from across the street. They were actually really friendly and welcoming, they even invited us for dinner.
I groaned, stretching my arms and legs while still in bed. I jumped up, suddenly excited for the first school day. I never hated school, and I also never understood why people did. Everyone was so nice to me, even the teachers. I don't mean to sound like a "little Miss Perfect" or anything though. There were a few girls that didn't like me very much, but I don't know why. I never did anything to them.
But that's another reason for why I am so happy today, it's a fresh start, a new beginning. Nobody here knows who I am, and I hope to make a good first impression.
To start the day, I went to the bathroom and took a relaxing, hot shower. I washed my hair and wrapped it up after. I sprayed myself with my new and also favorite body perfume - it was a soft and fresh, not too strong, vanilla scented body mist.
I picked my outfit for the day. It was pretty warmรย outside, so it consisted of a white, off the shoulders top tucked into my blue jean skirt. I wore it with a golden necklace - well, it's fake gold, but still, the color was gold - and a pair of earrings that matched.
(Sophia's outfit of the day ^)
After I was completely dressed, I put on some light, natural makeup. I was never that good with makeup, so I always only wore a bit of eyeliner and lip gloss. I didn't necessarily need mascara, my eyelashes were pretty long by themselves, plus I always forget I have it on and accidentally smudge it.
When I was done with that, I dropped the towel from my head and blow-dried my hair quickly, then brushed it thoroughly. My hair was chestnut brown and a bit wavy, it fell down 'til just above my waist.
I went downstairs and was met with my parents in the kitchen. "Hey, Mom. Hey, Dad," I said cheerily. They looked up from what they were doing. My mom put down her magazine and greeted me with a "good morning". She also complimented my outfit. I smiled, looking down at my body.
"Thanks! It's the one we bought a few days ago, remember?" We went to the mall to buy some new clothes and supplies for school. She nodded, smiling.
Dad took a sip of his coffee and greeted me as well, asking me, "How are you feeling?"
I thought about it for a second. The more minutes passed, the more nervous I got, but I was still eager though.
"Great. I can't wait to meet the new people," I answered. He chuckled at my enthusiasm.
I took an apple out of the fridge and started eating it. I texted some of my old friends from back home, telling them how much I missed them. Especially Olivia - I call her 'Liv' for short. She was my best friend. I've known her almost my entire life. When we first met, we immediately clicked.
Liv: you have to tell me about your new school when u get back!
Me: sure,รย but liv im so sad that ur not hereeee :/
Liv: IKR i miss you too soph! and dont forget to always call me if theres anything ok? especially if theres a boy. i want to know everything ;)
I laughed a little. I loved her so much, and if she said anything, she means anything. She'll want to know every detail, from how he looked, to what he said or did.
Me: i will dont worry. youll always be the first ill tell something to. but dont get too thrilled, theres probably not even gonna be a boy that likes me.
Liv: nonsense! how many times do i have to tell you soph, you are literally the most gorge person i know. every boy in there will looked at you and fall on their knees for you
Another thing about Liv, she was known for her overreactions. I shook my head, a grin plastered onto my face.
Me: sure liv sure. but i have to go. byeee. love ya
Liv: too babe
I threw the apple away when I was done and checked the clock on the wall. It read 8:00, and school started at 25, so I stood up and grabbed my school bag. I already packed it yesterday evening, so I directly went to the front door.
It was a bit early, but it was my first day and I didn't want to be late, nor did I have my schedule yet. I still have to collect it at the principle's office.
"Mom, are you ready?" I asked, opening the front door. She came from the kitchen, Dad walking beside her. "Yes, Honey, I'm coming."
She gave her goodbyes to Dad, and so did I. We jumped in the car and rode off. My mom had to use the GPS, since she didn't exactly know where the school was.
The ride only took a few minutes, surprising me. School luckily wasn't that far away.
When we arrived, it was 8: 15. I sighed in relief, because that meant that I still had enough time to find my classes in time. Or so I thought.
"Okay, we're here. Hope you enjoy your first day, and don't be shy to make new friends, okay?" my mom said when she stopped the car. She knew how anxious I got around people I didn't know, but I still nodded. "I'll try. Love you, Mom, and thanks for the ride."
"Of course, Honey. Love you, too," she said, smiling at me. I didn't want to open the door now that we were here. All the excitement left my body as soon as she cut the engine, and it all came back to me in an instant, but replaced with nerves. This is the reason why I didn't eat a lot this morning...
"Come one, Sophia. Just relax, everyone here looks so nice, and I'm sure that if you'll be as polite as always, the teachers'll love you, too," she encouraged. I took a deep breath, my eyes closed, and when I exhaled, I opened them and smiled.
"Okay," I whispered, more to myself than anyone else. I put my hand on the door handle and pushed. I closed it behind me and gave a small wave to my mom when she started the car up again. I couldn't see her through the windows of the car because of the sun's reflection, but I'm sure she was waving.
When she was out of sight, only then did I turn around, now finally facing the school I was going to be in for the rest of the year.
Please don't let me embarrass myself...
