Chapter 453
The Unknown God of War
"Are you saying that I'm a leech who has to depend on Father?" Zhou Yang snorted coldly.
He knew very well it was the truth, but he was not happy that his younger brother had to call him out in
his face.
"Yang, Shan, let's sit down and talk. You should know my husband has a short temper, so please don't
mind him." Liu Minglan noticed the atmosphere was getting awkward, so she spoke up to break the
tension.
"Peng, take your parents to the living room. I've already prepared your mother's favorite tea," Liu
Minglan said to Zhou Peng, who was engrossed in his game.
Zhou Yang snorted coldly. He puffed his chest and went to the living room.
"Why must you be so stubborn? Muqing and Duo Duo rarely visit us. If you frighten my dear
granddaughter, you won't hear the end of this!" After Zhou Yang and his family walked away, Liu
Minglan discreetly thumped her husband's shoulder.
Zhou Lie grunted indignantly, but he seemed less tense.
He was not going to argue with his elder brother when his son's family was around.
Zhou Yang scrunched his nose disdainfully when he stepped into the living room. "This place smells
like it hasn't been washed for ten years. It reeks of poverty."
Zhou Peng did not show anyone any courtesy. He sat on the sofa and began to help himself to the fruit
plate and the snacks.
Even though Zhou Ying did not like her uncle and his family, she stood up and greeted them out of
basic courtesy. "Good morning, Uncle Yang, Auntie Shan."
Chu Feng sat there quietly hugging Duo Duo while peeling an apple.
"You're so grown up, Ying! Not bad, at least you know your basic manners, unlike your father!" Zhou
Yang said while lighting up a cigarette. He haughtily sized up Zhou Ying from head to toe.
"Peng is about to graduate from college soon, and he'll be looking for a job in Jiangling. You can ask
him if you need any help. Don't be stubborn like your father. You wouldn't want to live an unremarkable
life like him."
Zhou Ying bit her lower lip, feeling slightly annoyed, though she did not say anything.
Gao Shan noticed the annoyance on Zhou Ying's face. She lifted her eyebrows and said sarcastically,
"I heard the marriage between you and Sun Mingxuan fell through. Is that true? I also heard there was
a big fight at the ceremony. That must've been utterly embarrassing."
Zhou Ying's face instantly fell. Chu Feng frowned. She's really asking for it.
Back then, Chu Feng had interrupted the wedding ceremony dressed as a military general. He had
caused a huge scene, but no one outside of the invited guests in the hall should know about what
actually transpired. Gao Shan was only a wannabe, and she could not have known the details.
"A girl like you should be pragmatic. Don't dream of marrying a rich husband if you don't have the
qualifications! Shouldn't you be more aware of your abilities?" Gao Shan said while crossing her arms
haughtily. "It's a pity that you got taken for a ride, but don't you know you've affected our reputation
too?"
Zhou Ying's face turned red from anger. She gritted her teeth and was on the verge of tears.
She was the true victim of the relationship. Just when she thought she could walk out of the traumatic
event, Gao Shan had to mention it again.
"It's entirely Ying's choice whether she wants to marry or not. No one has the right to say anything
about it or meddle in it," Chu Feng, who had been keeping quiet, decided to speak out. "In other words,
it's none of your f*cking business what my sister decides to do."
"Pfft!" Zhou Ying could not stop herself from chuckling. She looked at Chu Feng with gratitude.
