Chapter 4 Chapter 4 Someone burst out laughing. âHer? She probably never leaves her hometown!â
Even Jackson smirked slightly, shaking his head. Saraâs eyes narrowed with satisfaction. âMy mistake! I shouldâve asked which market has the cheapest vegetables or which toilet cleaner works best!â
More laughter erupted. She turned away smugly, starting another story.
I slowly clenched my fists. Something inside me burned. Must be the alcohol, I thought. Why else would such juvenile taunts get under my skin?
âIâve been there.â My voice cut through the noise, calm but firm.
The laughter died instantly. Sara turned, momentarily startled, before sneering, âWhat?â
âIâve been to Azora.â
Surprise flickered across her face before she recovered, voice dripping contempt. âNo need to pretend. If you havenât been, just admit it! Lying only makes you look pathetic.â
âIâm not lying.â
âOh really?â She crossed her arms, chin lifted. âThen tell us, where exactly? The coastal cities? The tourist spots?â
I met her gaze steadily. âThe Nyara Republic.â
The room went silent.
â...Nyara?â someone echoed uncertainly. âShe must be drunk,â another laughed nervously, âmaking up stories!â
The fire inside me blazed hotter. I wasnât alone thereâthere were countless others. Journalists, peacekeepers, aid workers... Were we all not ânormal peopleâ?
I swept my gaze across the table, each word deliberate: âNot only have I been there, I lived there for a year. Iâve witnessed resource wars, worked in epidemic treatment centers, distributed aid with UN workers. I took a bullet.â
Stunned silence fell. They stared at me, dumbfounded.

Chapter 4 I swirled my wine, fixing my gaze on Sara, voice turning glacial: âAnd one more thing. There are no yellowfin tuna in the Celestial Seaâwrong climate entirely. The ancient paths donât start in Westland; they run through the Northern Kingdom. And the sacred rocks of the Southern Isles? Closed to climbers since 2019.â
My lips curled into a slight smile. âSara, lying is risky. Itâs so easy to get caught.â
Her face drained of color.
Confused glances darted around the table. Sara leapt to her feet, voice rising shrilly: âSheâs just some orphan nobodyâhow could she have been to such places? Sheâs the liar!â
I rested my chin on my hand, smiling faintly. âThen show us your photos. Youâve been everywhere; surely you took pictures?â
Her composure crumbled. âI... I...â
âDonât tell me you have none?â

ï¤Backup Girl 23 Tempted Trapped and Too Late to Run ï¤Chapter 720 She turned to Jackson, nearly crying. âJackson! Whatâs wrong with your fiancée?! This was supposed to be my welcome party! How can you let her attack me like this? Fine! If Iâm so unwelcome, Iâll leave!â
She made a show of wiping her eyes before storming out.
Chaos erupted. Others urged Jackson, âGo after her! Itâs lateâwhat if something happens?â
