Chapter 94
Backup Girl No More: Adios to my V-card and My First Love (Brooklyn)
Chapter 4 âGet in the car.â
Calista stared at Ken, bewildered. âWhy are you here?â
His brows furrowed in irritation. âYou pushed Viola down yesterday and ruined her dress today. Donât you think you owe her an apology?â
âI never pushed her, and I didnât ruin any dress. Stop accusing me!â She turned to leave, but Ken caught her arm roughly. He froze when he noticed the bruises marking her delicate skin.
âWhat happened to your arm?â
Calista felt tears threatening to spill. âDonât you already know?â she asked softly.
Discomfort flickered across Kenâs face before his expression hardened. âYouâve become quite manipulative,â he said coldly. âWould you really hurt yourself just to frame Viola?â
His words cut deep. âAfter all these years, Ken, is that really who you think I am?â
He pinched the bridge of his nose, attempting to soften his tone. âItâs just an apology, Calista. Why is that so difficult?â
She turned away, but not before a tear escaped.
Back home, Ken was waiting. He threw a paintâstained dress at her feet.
âWhat is this?â
âYou ruined Violaâs dress. She canât attend the party now,â he said icily. âClean it, and Iâll leave you alone.â
The white fabric was splattered with bright paintâclearly intentional, but not her doing.
âI didnât do this, and I wonât clean it.â

âIf you donât clean this dress, Iâll throw your luck charm in the pool!â
Calista felt as if sheâd been struck by lightning. She stared at him, stunned.

her tears, Ken instinctively reached out to wipe them away, but Calista flinched back. His hand hung awkwardly in the air before dropping âDonât make this harder than it needs to be,â he said. âClean the dress, and youâll get your luck charm back. This dress means everything to Viola. Try to understand her position.â
âDo you really need to humiliate me like this?â
Ken couldnât grasp her anguish. He was just trying to teach her a lesson, but her tears troubled him.
âDonât think about running to my father. Heâs away on business.â
Calista took a deep breath. âFine. Iâll clean it...â
After Ken left, Viola appeared in the doorway.
âOh, Calista, Iâm so sorry,â she said with mock sympathy. âI just used up all the hot water. Youâll have to wash it in cold water instead.â
