Chapter 96
Backup Girl No More: Adios to my V-card and My First Love (Brooklyn)
Chapter 6 âHelp!â
âKen... Please, save me!â
Her desperate cries echoed across the water. Through her fading vision, Calista saw someone swimming toward her. A strong arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her swiftly through the water. Before consciousness slipped away, all she glimpsed was a blurred manâs face...
Meanwhile, Kenâs face darkened with anger as he searched for Calista. âI just asked her to wash a dress, and she runs away?â
Viola hurriedly patted his back. âLet it go. Iâm sure she didnât mean anything by it. Shell come back when she calms down-â
Better yet, never come back at all.
But her smug smile froze as she spotted a tall figure running toward them, carrying Calistaâs limp form.
âKen! Your sister fell into the pool!â
Ken spun around to see Calistaâs face, ghostly pale. He rushed to take her from the manâs arms, his blood running cold at the touch of her frozen skin.
âHow... Calista, hold on!â
He carried her inside, calling frantically for the housekeeper to help change her wet clothes. Then he turned to Henry. âWhat happened?â
Henry, Kenâs closest friend and confidant, explained, âI was passing by when I heard her screaming for help. I found a dress by the poolâmaybe she was washing it and fell in?â
Kenâs brows furrowed. âWe have hot water in the kitchen. Why would she wash clothes at the pool in this weather?â
Henry sighed heavily. âKen, this isnât like you. You have housekeepersâwhy make Calista do laundry at all? Youâve been too harsh with her lately.â
âYou donât understand,â Ken defended. âSheâs too spoiled. Itâs not good for her.â

Chapter 6 Henry glanced meaningfully at Viola before turning back to Ken. âWhen she was unconscious, she kept calling your name.â
Kenâs jaw tightened. âShe probably fell in on purpose to get my attention. I donât know where she learned such manipulation.â
Henryâs expression darkened. Without warning, his fist connected with Kenâs jaw, sending him stumbling into the wall.
âWhat the hell?â
Kenâs eyes blazed with fury as he prepared to retaliate, but Henry pinned him against the wall, unmovable.
Violaâs scream pierced the air. âStop it!â
Henryâs voice was iceâcold as he ground out each word. âKen, Calista is your beloved sister. How dare you say such cruel things about her?â
Ken shoved Henryâs hands away. âSheâs my sisterâthis is none of your business. Stay out of it.â
After Henry left, Ken stood in Calistaâs doorway, watching her unconscious form with conflicted eyes.
Outside, Viola collapsed, trembling. Thank God Henry hadnât witnessed her forcing Calista to wash the dress in cold water.
