Lock You In My Heart Chapter 387
Lock You In My Heart
Gabrielle didnât say anything. She just kept silent and listened as Westley spoke to Helena.
Westley kept saying that he loved her and he would be good to her for the rest of his life. Gabrielle felt something tug on her heartstrings.
âHelena, I brought Gabrielle here to see you today because I want you to know that I have someone who loves and cares about me deeply now. You can be rest assured that Iâm more than fine and happy.â Westley was standing there with his back ramrod straight. He was looking at Helena intently, as if he was desperate for her to know the gravity of each word he said.
Gabrielle knew that it must have taken him a lot of courage to come here to see Helena and introduce Gabrielle to her.
The gesture moved Gabrielle. It also spoke volumes of how far he had come from when their relationship began.
Westley did this to make Gabrielle feel better.
He was so considerate of her feelings, and she felt something bloom in her chest.
Subconsciously, she reached out and held Westleyâs hand tightly. The two of them held each otherâs hands and stood there, staring at Helenaâs photo quietly and solemnly.
âGabrielle, did you hear what I said?â Westley whispered to her, his eyes soft and tender as he stared at Gabrielle.
Of course she heard himâevery single word, loud and clear.
And Gabrielle was deeply touched because of what he did. She couldnât even begin to describe how emotional she felt in that moment.
âYes, every word.â She gave him a small smile.
âGabrielle, I said this to both Helena and you. From now on, youâre the only woman I will ever love.â Westley tipped her face towards his.
Gabrielle knew he meant every word he said. Westley was a man of honor.
He wouldnât have taken her here just to lie to her in front of Helena. He wasnât that cruel.
âI know. Thank you for trusting me and loving me,â Gabrielle said, almost choking with emotion on the last word.
âYou silly girl, you deserve all the best.â Westley pulled her into his arms and wrapped her in a fierce hug. He rubbed his cheek on her hair.
Gabrielle leaned against his chest felt her face blush with embarrassment.
Helena was Westleyâs ex-fiancée. Hugging like this in front of her photo seemed afor saving Westley. Donât worry, I will take good care of him.â
Gabrielle closed her eyes and made the promise.
What happened between Helena and Westley was in the past now, no matter how close they were. Helena would always be a part of his life.
But he was Gabrielleâs husband now.
âThank you.â Gabrielleâs voice was low, but she was certain Westley heard her.
Westley held her tighter, lowered his head and there for a few beats.
âAre you cold?â
Winter was still here, and they were standing in a cemetery.
âA little,â Gabrielle admitted. Her breath even plumed, and her teeth almost chattered.
She didnât know why, but she always felt colder in the cemetery than anywhere else.
âLetâs go. Itâs getting late. We should head home now.â
Westley grabbed her hand, his face full of concern.
He was worried that Gabrielle might catch a cold.
âOkay, letâs go. Miss Collins is probably happy you came to see her.â
Gabrielle wanted to go back. She was getting uncomfortable.
Although she was married to Westley and was his wife now, she still felt guilty for Helena somehow. Gabrielle knew it was irrational, but she couldnât help feeling like she wronged the other woman.
It was as if she stole Westley from Helena.
âHelena, we have to go now. Iâm sorry but I might visit you less often in the future. I hope you can forgive me.â With a slight incline of his head, Westley turned around and walked awayâhis arm slung over Gabrielleâs shoulders.
As they warmed their hands inside the car, Gabrielle faced him.
âWestley, why did you say you would visit her less often?â Gabrielleâs forehead was creased. She was curious why he said that.
âYouâre my wife and the only woman I will love from here on out. I have to be around you,â Westley said.
Gabrielle knew that it was all because of her. Westley didnât want her to feel uncomfortable and jealous because of a dead person. He was so in tune to her feelings.
âI see. But I really donât mind, Westley. You grew up together, after all.â If it wasnât for the accident, Westley and Helena would have been married by now. Gabrielle was sure they were so close to each other.
Gabrielle sorely wished she met him earlier.
However, she was so grateful for Westleyâs thoughtfulness. She loved seeing this side of him.
âNo, itâs okay. I grew up with Helena, and I knew her very well. She would be very happy to see that Iâm in a good place right now with the woman I love. She wouldnât mind if I visit her less often. Besides, Iâm your husband now, so you will always be my priority.â Westley stared deep into Gabrielleâs eyes as he spoke these words. He wanted her to know how serious he was.
Gabrielle was at a loss what else to say to him.
âThank you, Westley.â Gabrielle put her hand over his and squeezed it.
âGabrielle, youâre my wife. This is something husbands should do.â Westley took her hand and brushed her knuckles on his jawline.
Gabrielle didnât say anything more. Her phone suddenly rang; the shrill sound it made was so loud inside the car. She saw it was Jackson, and she somehow felt uneasy.
She hesitated for a while before picking up the call. âJackson, what can I do for you?â
âMs. Glyn wants to see you. Where are you now?â Jackson was his typical cold and apathetic self.
He was always so arrogant and impolite. It rarely mattered to him who he was talking to. Gabrielle had been used to it.
âMs. Glyn wants to see me? Do you know why?â Gabrielle peeked at Westley, who was staring up ahead.
It was a great honor that Melissa wanted to see her, but Gabrielle knew there must be a reason.
âI donât know. Are you free today? Come to the hotel if you have time,â Jackson replied with an icy tone.
Gabrielle sighed, but she couldnât refuse. âI see. Okay, Iâll go to the hotel.â
Without any response, Jackson hung up the phone. Gabrielle was speechless, and she stared hard at her own phone. âThat guy is so rude!â
