Chapter 51

My Vampire Love

Brittany's POV

*

After making sure that Samantha was going to be safe, I rushed into Dexter's hideout with Rhea. I and Samantha found her and a few security men while we were trying to find a way to get back to Cole's house. She said had Cole told her to find him if he didn't return home in two days.

The guards were presently engaged in a battle with Dexter's hefty guards so Rhea and I could gain access into the building without being spotted. We encountered several other guards before and after we got into the building but Rhea defeated them easily since she was apparently a trained fighter while I just clutched onto a pepper spray on one hand and a silver knife on the other with a bag strapped on my back.

"Why do I have a feeling I've been here before?" Rhea questioned.

"Maybe you have. But we need to focus on finding Cole and the others first". I said.

"Cole's text says locker room". Rhea said.

"He texted you?" I questioned.

"Well... Yeah".

How?

I decided to keep the other questions I had to myself and focus on our goal.

"We need to find the locker room". She said.

"I don't think he meant an actual locker room". I said.

"So we need to find a room with lockers in it? That's still pretty much a locker room to me," She said, murmuring the last sentence to herself.

"We need to find where the items belonging to their captives are kept". I replied.

*

We walked for a few minutes before Rhea pulled me into a small empty room that was about the size of a janitors closet.

"Okay, so why are we here?" I asked in the most minimal voice I could muster.

"We have to change into these". She replied.

"About ten steps away from here, the security is a bit heavy so I got us these," She said, bringing out a pile of clothes.

"And this".

She pulled out a purse from the same bag she had pulled out the pile of clothes from.

"So... What are these for?" I questioned.

She rolled her eyes and replied.

"Uniforms for disguise. And in this purse," She said, holding out the purse in her hands. "I have identification cards and access cards. There are no cameras at this side of the building because this is the janitors' block so we won't be spotted".

We both quickly changed into the disguise uniforms and clipped our fake identification cards to the front pockets. Then tucked in the access cards into one of the baggy pockets by the side.

True to Rhea's suspicion, the security was extremely tight. But of course, we got through, thanks to the I.D and access cards.

"Hallway clean up". Rhea told the security man who had a questioning look on his face.

"Okay, where are your access cards?"

We showed him our access cards then he allowed us passage into the next hallway.

After searching for a while, we found a room that looked suspicious. Instead of the heavy wooden doors use for other rooms, the door of this room was made of heavy metal.

There was a card reader beside it. Well, that was a problem.

"Whatever we're looking for needs to be in here". I whispered to Rhea.

"I don't think so. This looks more like an escape exit to me. The main door wouldn't look so suspicious". Rhea said.

"So... How do we get through?"

"I might know someone who has all the keys and cards to every door in this building".

"Who?" I questioned.

She ignored my question and began to type furiously on her phone.

Then paused for like eight seconds, while I waited for her to say something.

"He hid the card somewhere here". Rhea said.

I looked around and a spot quickly caught my attention.

It was a beautiful artwork that was hung on the wall.

I ran my fingers over the intricate design. Seemed like a perfect place to hide the card.

I studied the painting once more... Nothing.

I looked around cautiously before dismounting the heavy painting carefully.

I looked behind the frame which held the painting and found where the card was likely to be hidden. Of course, it was there. I quickly pulled it out and tucked it in my pocket before putting the painting back up.

"Found it!" I announced.

"Great... Now wave it over the card reader".

As soon as I waved the card over the card reader, I heard a little beep and just like that, the heavy metal door slowly opened up.

"Well, that was easy". I exhaled.

I looked around the room. There were two more doors and one of them was going to lead to the locker room.

"So- how about we try the door by the right first?" Rhea asked.

"Yeah, sounds like a good plan". I smiled.

The card reader didn't work for the door, but our verification cards did.

And it led us right into the room!

They were all there!

My eyes fell on an injured Cole and Malcolm. Another lady who was still conscious but looked very weak. She was going to fall unconscious soon.

My eyes zeroed in on Dexter, a naked Dexter.

Ewww.

He was hurting them. All of them. His form was bigger than his normal form.

"Stop!" I screamed.

"Ah! Just the person I wanted to see". He said.

Before I could react, I heard a low growl behind me. It was Rhea.

Her form was bigger.

I thought only werewolves were able to morph into bigger creatures. I guess I was wrong.

Rhea charged towards Dexter furiously.

I watched in horror as Dexter clawed her stomach and hurled her into the wall across the room.

"Seeing your friends get hurt because of you doesn't feel good, does it?" He said, smirking at me.

I bit my cheeks so hard that I drew some blood.

"Little Devereaux, your parents hid you well. So well that you matured into a beautiful eighteen-year-old before I could find and kill you. Your vampiric traits are dormant.. Works for me". He said.

He walked towards me and grabbed my neck.

"You could have been useful but you are an obstacle. I have to get rid of you and them too". He said.

I felt his claws dig deep into my skin. I felt a warm liquid run down my neck. His other hand dug into the spot below my rib cage. I gasped as I continued to lose more blood.

My eyes became blurry with tears as I began to feel the effect of blood loss.

That was it. I was going to die. We were all going to die.

I thought.

But then I heard Cole's voice in my head. I glanced at him. He was still unconscious. The words in my head confused me slightly.

What the hell was 'Et Solutam'?!?

I heard his voice again, this time, it sounded weaker.

Without thinking twice, I quickly whispered what I heard.

"Et Solutam". I whispered but of course, Dexter's vampiric ears picked up what I said.

"You speak Latin?" He laughed.

Oh, so it was Latin.

"Et Solutam!" I yelled louder, patiently waiting to disappear or something but nothing happened.

"You're not letting anything loose, young Devereaux". Dexter said.

Suddenly, I felt the presence of something in me. Something that wanted to control me. Something stronger than I was.

I had to give in. I had to give in to whatever wanted to possess me. At least it was stronger than me.

I felt fury possess me immediately I gave in. I was almost blinded by the fury that overcame me.

"Let's see about that". I said, embracing the wicked smile that graced my face.

"Your beast is no match for mine, Devereaux". He said. "As much as I'd love to hurt you physically, seeing you hurt emotionally will be much more fun".

Without giving me a chance to understand what he meant, he grabbed Cole's unconscious body and drove a knife into his chest.

A silver knife.

My world came crashing down. And so did my leniency.

Tears rolled down my cheeks as the sound of Cole's agonized roar filled the room.

I quickly rushed over to his side.

"B- Britt". He whispered.

"I'm here. I'm here". I said, holding his cold hands.

"I- I didn't say-" He said in between ragged breathing.

"That- I love you". He whispered and chuckled lightly. "Look who's being a cheesy ass now. Telling you this during my last few minutes".

I smiled softly at the way he was still joking despite he was in pain.

"Shh, you won't die. I'll make sure you won't die". I said, still letting the tears flow.

He chuckled lightly.

"The poison has probably reached my heart already. You can't save me". He whispered weakly.

I noticed his eyes were closing already.

"Don't close your eyes". I snapped.

"Can't help it. Make sure uou leave the vampire domain at any chance you get, okay?" He said.

"No". I said stubbornly. "I won't run. I'll stay back and fight".

"Britt..." He said weakly.

He was losing consciousness!

"Cole! Cole!" I yelled as his eyes closed slowly. "No!"

I cried. I felt him go limp in my hands. That was it Cole was gone.

Now I was going to kill him.

My eyes zeroed in on Dexter's smirking face.

Oh, I'm gonna do more than just wiping off that stupid smirk on your face. I'll make sure your face is so mutilated that even fire won't recognize you.

I growled at him as I felt my bones move.

I felt a powerful surge of strength overcome me as I charged full force towards him.

I successfully tackled him to the ground and began to claw at his skin, damaging whatever could be damaged.

I didn't miss the look of shock on his face when he realized he wasn't healing. It was my turn to smirk. My nail polish wasn't just there for decoration, it was a venom that was going to make him bleed slowly to death, yet, well, not actual death 'cause he wouldn't die.

I was going to imprison him and inflict more pain... More pain than he could ever imagine.

He'd regret ever driving that knife into Cole's chest. I was going to make him suffer.

A/N: Hey beautiful people!

Cole's gone😢 Well, that was hard to write🤧

I'm so sorry for the late update. I just resumed school and it's killing me!!!😭

Sooooo- MVL is gradually coming to an end!

Honestly, I'm not thrilled about ending this book but I think I've dragged the end of this book enough.

Just a few more chapters and MVL will be completed.

So update for the last few chapters will be very slow (blame it on school)

Now let's talk about the Latin reference.

I got that translation from the internet.

Et Solutam means 'let loose' in Latin.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Aaaand that's all for this chapter!

Don't forget to Vote, Comment and Shaaaare!

Till next update!

Love y'all😗❤😗
