Chapter 1014
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

After a brief pause, Lucasâ voice turned serious. âSomething about this situation doesnât add up. Iâve already sent people to investigate the matter.â
Harold nodded in approval. âGood. You donât need to worry about Galen. Iâll talk to him later.â
âAlright,â Lucas replied.
Once Lucas left the Clark estate, he drove straight to Belindaâs place.
When he arrived, the maid opened the door for him.
The moment he stepped inside, his gaze landed on Holley, lounging on the sofa and watching TV. His brows knitted slightly.
Holley stood up when she saw Lucas.
The sight of Lucas alone was enough to remind her of what he had done to her precious daughter.
A wave of anger surged within her, but she forced herself to suppress it, not daring to let even a flicker of resentment show.
Forcing a polite smile, Holley said to Lucas, âMr. Clark, are you here to see Belinda? Sheâs in her room.â
Lucasâ eyes remained cold as he stared at her. âWhy are you back?â
Holley lowered her gaze, her voice carrying a practiced sincerity. âAfter returning home, I reflected on my actions and realized my mistakes. I came back to apologize to Belinda.â
Disdain flickered in Lucasâ eyes as he listened to her words, his expression turning icy.
He said, âHolley, since you are Belindaâs mother, Iâll let you off this time. But if you ever dare to hurt her again, Iâll make sure you suffer for every wrong youâve done, past and future.â
Every word Lucas spoke was cold and ruthless, his threat crystal clear. Holley shuddered, her complexion draining of color.
The sheer force of Lucasâ presence was suffocating, pressing down on her like an invisible weight.
She quickly nodded. âI-I understand.â
Lucas didnât spare her another glance. Without a word, he turned on his heel and ascended the stairs.
Reaching Belindaâs door, he rapped his knuckles against it before pushing it open and stepping inside. Belinda sat with a book in hand, reading.
Her brows knitted together in mild displeasure when she saw Lucas. âWhat are you doing here?â she asked, her voice slightly raspy, her tone far from welcoming.
âI came to check on you,â Lucas said, settling down beside her.
Belindaâs expression remained frosty as she turned to face him. âLucas, do you really not get what Iâve been trying to tell you?â
Lucas fixed his gaze on Belinda, his chiseled features taut with determination. âI understand what youâve been telling me. But, like Iâve already told you, no matter what happens, I will never leave you.â
Belindaâs eyebrows knitted together, her patience thinning. Her tone sharpened, carrying a cold edge. âLucas, donât push me into resisting you.â
Lucas looked at her without blinking. âEven if you despise me, I will endure it.â
