Chapter 106
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Turner let out a derisive chuckle and looked at Belinda. âWhat are you trying to say here? That you think you could lead this surgery?â
His tone was laced with sarcasm, but Belinda remained unfazed.
Belinda smiled faintly. âI wouldnât dare to claim that, Dr. Ortiz. However, I know someone who could. If she performed the surgery, the success rate could reach ninety percent.â
The room stirred with surprise, Belindaâs bold statement sparking a flicker of hope in the others. The doctors present had an idea who Belinda was talking about.
Turner, however, broke into a sharp laugh. âNinety percent? Thatâs absurd. Who is this so-called miracle surgeon youâre talking about?â
âIs it Star?â one of the doctors blurted out, barely containing his excitement.
Belinda nodded. âThatâs rightâStar.â
A ripple of excitement passed through the room. âI knew it!â one doctor exclaimed.
âWith Star, we can all be assured. She can definitely handle this!â added another.
As their murmurs of hope and anticipation grew louder, Turnerâs expression darkened.
Turner was well aware of who this âStarâ wasâshe was the famed surgical genius. The tales of her expertise were so amplified that Turner found it hard to believe her skills were as extraordinary as everyone said. There was a time when her name was a daily echo in their department, with endless discussions about her remarkable talent, the complex surgeries she had mastered, and the throngs of patients clamoring for her care.
Kylee, sensing the growing enthusiasm, interjected with a note of realism, âEven if Star could increase the success rate, think about how hard it would be to actually get her to perform this surgery. Plus, why should we outsource a surgery that belongs to our hospital?â
Turnerâs mood lifted slightly at Kyleeâs words, and a flicker of doubt appeared on the faces of the other doctors.
âExactly,â someone spoke up. âStar isnât just sitting around waiting for our call!â
âI heard even the famous Elsa Torres from Ascein couldnât get Star to take on her sonâs case,â another added.
Belinda, maintaining a calm demeanor, said, âI understand your concerns, but Mr. Rodgers has connections with Star. She is known for tackling high-risk surgeries, and this case might just pique her interest.â
This comment reignited a wave of excitement in the room. âReally? Mr. Rodgers knows Star personally? That is truly impressive!â one doctor exclaimed, thrilled at the prospect. âThatâs incredible! I might actually meet my idol!â another voiced enthusiastically.
Amidst the growing excitement, Turner fixed a stern gaze on Belinda and asserted firmly, âI will be the one to perform this surgery!â
His authoritative tone silenced the room, leaving the other doctors startled.
As the room buzzed with murmurs, Turnerâs expression hardened. He pressed his lips together and spoke with deliberate calmness. âLetâs consider a few things here.â
First, is there any certainty that Mr. Rodgers can even persuade Star to perform the surgery? Second, assuming she agrees, when can we expect her to arrive? And third, can we really be sure that her success rate is as high as ninety percent?â
The room fell into contemplative silence after Turnerâs words.
