Chapter 1138
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

No, the real reason was obvious: he harbored feelings for Belinda.
Why else would he have knelt before Rhys and stabbed himself repeatedly just to protect her?
That wasnât something done out of mere responsibilityâit was an act driven by love.
But Lucas wasnât about to tell Belinda this.
He certainly wouldnât help his rival in love confess his feelings to the woman he loved.
Clearing his throat, Lucas said coldly, âIâve already arranged for a caregiver to tend to you during your recovery, Darwin. If you need anything else, reach out to me directly.â
The message in his words was crystal clearâDarwin could contact him, not Belinda.
Darwinâs lips curled slightly as he met Lucasâ gaze. âAlright. Thank you, Mr. Clark.â
Shortly after, Lucas and Belinda took their leave.
Just before walking out, Belinda turned to Darwin and said, âWhile youâre recovering, Iâll personally bring you your meals every day.â
A smile touched Darwinâs lips, and he nodded.
Lucas, on the other hand, visibly stiffened, his expression dark.
He didnât even try to mask his displeasure.
Back in the car, Belinda couldnât help but notice the storm brewing in Lucasâ expression. She tilted her head in curiosity. âWhatâs wrong? Why do you look so upset? Did someone upset you?â
Lucas shot her a sharp glance, his frustration boiling over. âYou did.â
Belinda blinked in confusion. âMe? What did I do?â
Lucas exhaled sharply. âIâm jealous.â
Belindaâs brows lifted in mild surprise. âJealous? Of⦠Darwin?â
Lucas didnât answer, but the sharpness in his expression said it all.
Belinda sighed, feeling resigned.
She reached out, playfully ruffling Lucasâ hair. âLucas, thereâs no reason for you to be jealous. I donât have feelings for Darwin at all. Donât be upset.â
Lucas said angrily, âYouâre going to cook for him and deliver his meals every day now! Of course, Iâm upset by that!â
His eyes locked onto hers, intense and unwavering. âBelinda, you belong to me! I wonât allow you to treat another man so well like that!â
Belinda raised an eyebrow and said, âI only said I would take care of Darwinâs meals, not that Iâd be the one cooking or delivering them.â
Lucas was momentarily stunned by her response, but soon, his expression eased.
âNow thatâs more like it,â he muttered, though a trace of dissatisfaction still lingered in his tone.
Belinda sighed, reaching out to him. âCome on, donât sulk or get jealous, alright? Darwin and I are just friends, nothing more.â
Lucas didnât reply right away. After a brief pause, he leaned in and said, âKiss me now.â
Belinda let out a soft laugh at his almost childish demand.
She gently cupped his face, pressing her lips against hisânot just a fleeting peck, but a slow, lingering kiss filled with affection.
Lucas, unable to resist, wrapped his arms around her, deepening the kiss.
What started as a gentle kiss quickly became a passionate one.
