Chapter 154
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

At Belindaâs words, Holleyâs eyes widened in shock, a flicker of disbelief crossing her features. âBelinda, you⦠Youâ¦â
But after a moment of stunned silence, Holley quickly regained her composure, her voice softening. âBelinda, I said you didnât have to do that. Just do whatever you feel is right.â
Belindaâs expression remained cool and unwavering. âIâve already given my word, and Iâll keep it.â She paused for a beat and then continued, her tone steady, âYouâve gotten what you wanted now. Whether or not we finish this meal doesnât matter anymore. Iâm heading back to the hospital now. You can stay here and enjoy your lunch.â
With that, she stood up, ready to leave.
âBelinda!â Holleyâs voice caught as she reached out and grabbed Belindaâs wrist. Looking up at Belinda with pleading eyes, she said, âIâve missed you so much. Please, stay and have lunch with me.â
Belinda didnât spare Holley a glance.
Her face remained cold as she calmly replied, âIâd rather not. Iâm not in the mood to have lunch with you right now. I need some time alone.â
She effortlessly pried Holleyâs hand away, picked up her bag, and turned to leave.
âBelindaâ¦â Holleyâs voice trembled as she called after Belinda, but Belinda didnât respond, her heart set. She knew staying here would only make things worse for both of them.
Once in the car, Belinda sank into the driverâs seat, resting her head back against the headrest as she closed her eyes, the weight of the day pressing down on her. She didnât know how to describe what she was feeling now, yet she couldnât deny the undercurrent of emotions swirling within her.
Though she resented Holley and blamed her for so many things, she could never bring herself to be truly harsh with the woman who had given her life. Despite the anger that occasionally consumed her, memories of Holleyâs tenderness toward her always surfaced in her mind, softening the edges of her bitterness.
Just then, her phone rang, cutting through her thoughts. Belinda glanced at the caller ID, and instantly, her eyes lit up. Without a second thought, she swiped to answer the call.
âBelinda.â
A warm, gentle voice greeted Belinda on the other end of the line.
âGrandma!â Belindaâs face lit up as she responded, her tone full of delight. âWhen are you coming to Owathe? Youâve been traveling for so long. Are you back in the country now?â
When Belinda had first returned to the country, she had called Kenia Lewis, her grandmother, offering to bring her to Owathe. But Kenia had been on a trip with close friends, and the plan had been delayed.
âYes, Iâm back! Just got back today. Thatâs why Iâm calling you now,â Kenia replied cheerfully. âWhen will you come to Owathe then? Iâll come to pick you up,â Belinda said, a touch of excitement in her voice.
Kenia quickly responded, âNo need for you to pick me up. Sarai will accompany me there. Iâll head to Owathe after I rest for a couple of days.â
Belinda hesitated and then said, âWell, with Sarai accompanying you, I do feel a bit more at ease. But I still want to pick you up. Iâve missed you so much, Grandma.â
Keniaâs voice softened, a smile in her tone. âYou donât need to come, my dear. I know how busy you are with work. Donât worry; Sarai will take care of me. Just wait for me patiently.â
