Chapter 211
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Belinda exited the virtual surgery system room after completing the surgery. Angie, who had been anxiously waiting outside the room, quickly approached Belinda, her expression a mix of worry and guilt.
âIâm so sorry, Belinda. I made a mistake. I shouldnât have shut the door. After I managed to send that little troublemaker away, I looked for Dr. McCoy. But with Dr. McCoy in surgery, I was unable to get him to unlock the door for me.â
Belinda offered a reassuring smile. âIf the door had not been shut by you, that boy would have stormed in. Youâve done nothing wrong.â
Angie took a deep breath and hesitantly inquired, âSo⦠Did you⦠Did you finish the surgery successfully?â
Angie had been waiting outside the room without her phone, so she had no idea how the competition went.
Hearing Angieâs question, Belinda let out a sigh, her expression laced with a hint of resignation.
Angieâs face immediately crumpled with guilt. âItâs all my fault! I messed everything up!â
Seeing Angie so upset, Belinda couldnât bear to tease her any longer. Her face broke into a smile. âRelax! I was just joking. I finished the surgery successfully,â she said.
âReally?â Angieâs eyes were wide with a mix of surprise and delight.
Belinda nodded and winked at her. âOf course.â
Angie let out a huge sigh of relief before giving Belinda a mock glare. âHow can you trick me like that just now?â
Belinda chuckled and linked her arm with Angieâs. âCome on. Letâs head back to the department now.â
âOkay!â Angie replied.
Then, she walked toward the elevator with Belinda.
âI wonder if Kylee succeeded in completing the surgery,â Angie suddenly said. âIf she did, that would bring you to a tie.â
Belindaâs lips curled into a smile at that, but she said nothing.
Then, she remembered something and turned to Angie. âAbout that boy earlierâwho is he?â
âOh, donât get me started! He is the son of the deputy director of the Neurosurgery Department. Whenever the deputy director couldnât find anyone to babysit him, he would bring him to the hospital. Who could have anticipated that he would suddenly show up on this floor today, of all days?â Angie huffed in exasperation.
Belinda let out a cold chuckle, and a knowing glint appeared in her eyes. She didnât believe that the boyâs presence earlier had been a coincidence.
What were the chances of that boy showing up right when she had been performing the surgery? And what were the odds that, out of all the doors lining the hallway, he would throw his basketball toward the room she was in?
Belinda didnât voice these thoughts, however. She just said, âLetâs go.â
Upon returning to the Cardiac Surgery Department, Belinda and Angie found that, apart from the doctors on duty, everyone else was already seated around the large conference table.
As soon as they stepped into the room, they were greeted with a round of applause.
