Chapter 313
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Lucas hesitated for a moment. He knew Sarai wasnât related to Belinda by blood, but she had always been like a sister to Belinda. Whatever she wanted to say to him, it would undoubtedly concern Belinda.
Without answering, Lucas turned and walked toward a quieter part of the house.
Sarai blinked in surprise but quickly followed him.
Lucas stopped at a small balcony, the night breeze ruffling his hair as he turned to face Sarai.
Parting his thin lips, he asked, âWhat do you want to talk about?â
âMr. Clark, are you and Belinda really getting divorced soon?â Sarai asked, breaking the tense silence.
Lucas furrowed his brow, his expression unreadable. Instead of answering, he countered, âIs that all you wanted to talk to me about?â
Sarai froze for a moment and then shook her head. âNo. I just⦠I wanted to tell you that Belinda really likes you. I think the reason she has even been considering the divorce is because she probably just wants you to care about her more. Thatâs all.â
Lucas raised an eyebrow, a faint trace of amusement flickering in his gaze. âIs that so?â
âYes!â Sarai nodded earnestly, her voice brimming with conviction. âBelinda and I grew up togetherâI know her better than anyone. Trust me, Mr. Clark, if you were just a little kinder to her, she would never go through with the divorce.â
Lucasâ lips quirked upward in a faint, enigmatic smile. âDoes Belinda know youâre telling me this?â he suddenly asked.

Lucas didnât respond immediately. His calm gaze bore into Sarai.
Seeing that Lucas was silent, Sarai continued in a sincere tone, âMr. Clark, believe me.â
Belinda truly likes you! This is only the second time Iâve ever seen her care about a man this muchââ
Lucasâ expression shifted subtly, his eyes narrowing. âSecond time?â he echoed, his voice tinged with a slight sharpness.
Sarai froze for a moment. Her eyes then darted nervously, and she stammered, âNo, no! I-I misspoke! Youâre the first man Belinda has ever liked!â
Her flustered response betrayed her intent. She clearly wanted Lucas to think that her words earlier were true.
Lucas let out a cold, humorless chuckle. âI see,â he said, his tone flat and detached, revealing no emotion.
Anxious, Sarai took a step closer to him. âWait, Mr. Clark, I didnât meanââ
But her next step seemed to falter. She stumbled, and her body lurched forwardâdirectly toward Lucas.
For a moment, it seemed she might fall right into his arms. However, Lucas, ever sharp, stepped aside with fluid precision, avoiding her.
With a loud thud, Sarai collided with the balcony railing. âAh!â she yelped, clutching her chest as her face contorted in pain.
Lucas stood to the side, his gaze cool and disdainful. âMiss Lewis,â he said, his voice laced with mockery, âyou should watch your steps more carefully from now on.â
