Chapter 330
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

She wanted to go to the bathroom without waking Lucas.
But as soon as her feet touched the ground⦠âWhere are you going?â A groggy yet deep voice echoed beside her.
Belinda froze.
Her back stiffened as she shrank into the blanket, clutching it tightly around her.
âWhat now? Planning to run off and pretend that nothing happened after having sex with me last night?â Lucasâ voice carried a lazy, husky tone, the kind that made Belindaâs ears tingle and her resolve falter.
Belindaâs lips twitched involuntarily at his words.
She was the one who was at a disadvantage here! How could Lucas have just said that?
But she didnât dare voice her thoughts aloud.
Instead, she forced a nervous laugh. âUh, well⦠I just wanted to take a shower.â
Her dark eyes flitted about, refusing to meet Lucasâ gaze.
Lucas raised a brow, clearly unconvinced. âReally? Then why were you sneaking around like that?â
Belinda shot him a sharp look. âSneaking around? I was just trying not to wake you up! You were sleeping so soundly, and I thought you could use some rest.â
âIs that so?â Lucasâ tone was laced with amusement as his sharp eyes lingered on Belinda.
Flustered, Belinda turned away, unable to endure his penetrating stare.
Lucas shifted, propping himself up against the headboard.
The sheet slid down a little, exposing his broad chest, his muscular frame bathed in soft morning light.
He looked at Belinda, a knowing smirk curling his lips. âBelinda,â he began, his voice casual but pointed, âwere you pretending to be drunk last night? Be honestâhave you been planning this for a while?â
Belindaâs composure shattered.
âWhat?â she snapped, turning back to him with wide, indignant eyes. âI was really drunk last night! How could I have plannedâ¦â
Her voice trailed off.
Her gaze landed on Lucasâ chestâon the faint red scratches and marks marring his otherwise flawless skin.
She knew that she was the one who had left those marks on him.
Her face flushed a deep crimson.
Oh God.
Had they really gone that wild last night?
Lucas leaned closer, his smirk deepening. âConvenient, isnât it? Blaming everything on the alcohol.â
Belinda was stunned into silence.
