Chapter 401
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Lucasâ expression stayed impassive as he answered, emphasizing each word, âOf course, Iâm satisfied. This is exactly what I have always wanted.â
Haroldâs features grew even stormier, his anger barely concealed. âFine! Thatâs great! Just see that you donât live to regret it!â Harold said, exhaling sharply.
âYou donât need to worry about that,â Lucas replied coolly, his calm demeanor unshaken.
âDo you truly believe Belinda pushed Verena down the stairs?â Harold asked abruptly.
Lucas met Haroldâs gaze, his voice steady and low. âI saw it with my own eyesâshe reached out her hand at that time.â
âShe was trying to pull Verena back, not to push her!â Harold fired back without hesitation.
Lucas remained silent, his face unreadable and detached. Haroldâs frustration mixed with a deep sense of resignation as he looked at Lucas. âAfter all these years of marriage, do you truly not understand who Belinda is? Do you genuinely believe she would push someone down the stairs?â
Lucas stayed quiet, though a faint crease appeared between his brows. Harold let out a hollow laugh, sarcasm lacing his words. âNow, it all makes senseâno wonder Belinda was so set on divorcing you. Itâs because you have never trusted her, not even for a moment.â
Lucasâ pupils contracted sharply when he heard that. Could it be true? Had he never truly trusted Belinda? Was that the reality?
Before Lucas could say anything, Harold continued in a low voice, âBut whatâs done is done. You and Belinda are divorced; thereâs no use talking about it now. Lucas, just take a moment to think about the matterâis this divorce really what you want?â
âThereâs no need for you to answer me. Just reflect on the matter yourself!â Harold said. Then, he stood up and made his way upstairs. Lucas was left in solitude in the expansive living room. Stunned, he sat motionless, and it took a long while before he could shake off the haze clouding his mind. His brow furrowed in thought. Then, he pushed the troubling thoughts aside and made his way upstairs.
As soon as he stepped into his room, an unsettling feeling hit him. There was a noticeable emptiness⦠Belindaâs skincare and makeup items had vanished from the vanity. He hurried toward the walk-in closet. As he flung open the wardrobe, his eyes widened in shock. Every single piece of Belindaâs clothing was gone! She⦠She had actually packed up her things and left so swiftly. Was she truly so desperate to leave this house? The realization sparked a wave of fiery rage in Lucasâ chest. Fantastic! This was exactly the result he wanted, wasnât it? So why was he seething with anger now? He should have been relieved, even happy!
Lucas forcefully slammed the wardrobe door shut and stormed out of the room. That night, Belinda didnât return to her own house. Instead, she went to Vera Villas. Upon arriving, she found Kenia still awake. Kenia looked up in surprise as she saw Belinda. âWhat brings you here, Belinda?â she asked. Seeing Kenia made tears well up in Belindaâs eyes.
She sniffed, her voice trembling as she said, âGrandma, I want to spend the night in your room today.â The sight of Belinda in such a state twisted Keniaâs heart. She quickly replied in a gentle voice, âMy dear, I will keep you company tonight.â
After Belinda freshened up and settled into bed, Kenia softly asked, âNow tell me, what happened?â Propped up against the headboard, Belinda lowered her gaze and spoke in a calm voice. âGrandma, Lucas and I⦠We got a divorce.â
Keniaâs expression stiffened at Belindaâs words. âWhen did this happen?â Kenia asked, her voice tight.
