Chapter 409
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

His voice was so loud that it was impossible for anyone to miss his words.
Belindaâs hand paused momentarily around her glass, but she quickly masked her reaction, regaining her composure.
Lucas picked up his glass with calm determination, clinked it against Ryanâs, and downed the drink in a single, effortless gulp.
Meanwhile, Darwin turned to Belinda and said, âDr. Wright, I truly appreciate everything youâve done. If it werenât for you, my aunt might not have made it.â After a pause, he added with genuine gratitude, âYouâre a hero to my entire family.â
Belinda smiled warmly. âThere is no need for you to thank me. Anyone in that situation would have done the same.â
Darwin shook his head and replied, âThatâs not true. These days, people are too afraid to help others and be the hero, so most just turn a blind eye when they encounter someone who needs help. Thatâs what makes your timely intervention so commendable.â
As he spoke, Darwinâs tone carried a subtle hint of resignation. âMy aunt was supposed to be here today, but she wasnât feeling well before leaving, so I told her to rest at home. Sheâll thank you in person next time,â he explained.
Belinda advised gently, âIf she frequently feels unwell, itâs best to have it checked at the hospital to prevent it from worsening.â
Darwin nodded in agreement and said, âI understand. Iâll take my aunt to the hospital tomorrow.â
âOkay,â Belinda replied with a reassuring nod.
Throughout the meal, neither of them said much.
However, Darwin was very attentive, often helping to fill Belindaâs glass with a polite gesture.
Belinda couldnât help but feel a bit embarrassed by his constant attentiveness.
Halfway through the meal, she excused herself and headed to the restroom.
After washing her hands, as she was about to return to her table, Belinda spotted Ryan standing nearby.
The moment Belinda laid eyes on Ryan, her brows knitted together in frustration, and a look of impatience flickered in her gaze.
She continued walking, her eyes locked firmly ahead.
As she passed Ryan, he suddenly called out, âBelinda.â
Belinda paused in her steps.
Ryanâs expression grew serious as he stared at her, his eyebrow lifting just a fraction. âCan we talk?â he asked.
In response, Belinda tugged the corner of her lips into a cold smile and replied, âI donât believe thereâs anything for us to talk about, Mr. Adams.â
Ryan let out a soft chuckle. âOh, but there is. Arenât you curious to hear something about Lucas?â
Before Belinda could say anything, Ryan continued, âThis morning, Lucas went to the hospital to visit Verena. Not only was he showering her with concern, but he also told her straight away that he has divorced you.â
He smirked. âAnd Lucas also mentioned that, as long as Verena is willing, he is ready to marry her anytime.â
