Chapter 416
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

âNow, I am afraid we canât carry on with our plan,â Percy said. He didnât have the courage to do anything to Lucasâ wife.
Debra scowled and then muttered, âDamn, itâs so aggravating! We had the perfect chance! Why does Belinda have to be Mr. Clarkâs wife?â
After a momentary pause, she added, âNow, getting Belinda to marry you and strengthening our ties with the head of the Thomas family is impossible. Yet, we shouldnât completely give up on getting close to Belinda.â
âFostering a positive relationship with her could still prove advantageous to us.â
Percy was on the verge of agreeing when a thought struck him. âHowever, considering our last encounter, Belinda is suspicious of us now. We may not find it so simple to ask her to hang out with us in private from now on.â
Debraâs eyes narrowed as she responded in a low voice, âWeâll find a way to do that.â
Hearing that, Percy fell silent.
In the living room of the Thomas familyâs residence, Mollieâs voice carried a tone of disbelief when she heard Belindaâs words. âReally? You two got a divorce?â
Darren, sitting beside her, furrowed his brow in concern.
âWas it your decision or Lucasâ?â Mollie asked sternly. She believed the answer to this question was crucial.
âI made the decision,â Belinda replied calmly.
At this, Mollieâs features softened slightly. âThatâs a bit better.â
âDid the particular incident this time prompt you to end things with Lucas?â Darren asked, his concern evident.
Belinda gently shook her head. âNo, it wasnât just because of one incident. There were many problems that gradually eroded my hope for the relationship with Lucas. Thatâs why I chose to end our marriage.â
After a brief pause, she continued in a calm voice, âIt was a well-considered decision.â Her expression betrayed no sorrow.
Belinda slightly pursed her lips for a moment, then looked towards Mollie. âMollie, do you recall our conversation over the phone that day?â
Caught off guard, Mollie paused. Then, she smiled slightly and asked, âSo, do you feel that being with Lucas brought you more sadness than joy? Is that what led to your decision?â
âYeah.â Belinda gave a small nod. âI must confess that I still havenât completely let go of Lucas. His actions and words still affect my emotions easily. However, Iâm hopeful that this influence will wane with time, and eventually, Iâll let go of him entirely.â
Despite her composed delivery, Belinda felt a pang in her heart and a prickling in her nose.
Mollie and Darren exchanged glances after hearing Belindaâs words.
After a moment, Mollie spoke up. âYouâve already made your decision, and we will support you. After all, Lucas is just one man. Thereâs no shortage of men out there! I believe you are bound to meet someone far better than Lucas!â
Darren nodded in agreement. âAbsolutely! With Belindaâs qualities, thereâs no way she wonât find someone better than Lucas!â
Pausing briefly, Mollie added, âNow that Belinda is single, we should set up some blind dates for her! Iâll get someone to compile a list first thing tomorrow.â
