Chapter 432
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

âMom! Stop that!â Belinda exclaimed in shock, sitting up quickly to catch Holleyâs hand. âYou didnât mean to do it. Why blame yourself for that?â
Kenia scowled at Holley. âHolley, itâs crucial you stop this pattern of self-punishment. You always do this when you blame yourself.â
Holley pressed her lips together, choosing to keep quiet.
Kenia then continued, âYou canât hold yourself responsible. I wasnât aware of Belindaâs allergy to artichokes, either. You shouldnât blame yourself for not knowing that.â
Holleyâs frown deepened. âItâs just so hard, thinking about her fainting right when she was performing surgeryâ¦â
She paused for a moment and then spoke again with remorse. âIf I hadnât made that breakfast for you, you wouldnât have suffered an allergic reaction. You passed out right when you were performing the surgery and couldnât complete it successfully.â
It was your first time leading as a surgeon! I just⦠I canât stop blaming myselfâ¦â
Before Holley could say more, Belinda interrupted, âMom, donât be so hard on yourself. I completed the surgery successfully.â
âWhat?â Holleyâs expression changed dramatically when she heard that.
Yet within moments, she realized something was amiss with her response.
Hastily, she changed her expression and questioned, âHow could you have completed the surgery successfully? Mr. Clark informed your grandmother over the phone that you had fainted while performing the surgery. Belinda, are you just trying to ease my guilt by saying the surgery went well?â
Belinda froze for a second upon hearing this.
She hadnât anticipated that Lucas would have disclosed that information to her grandmother.
She quickly explained, âYes, I did faint, but it was only after I had pushed through to complete the surgery. Thus, the surgery was indeed a success.â
âYou⦠You reckless girl! How could you have taken such a risk?â Holleyâs voice rose, her expression turning to one of frustration. âYou knew you were unwell, yet you chose to proceed with the operation instead of seeking medical attention! Do you not care about your own health?â
Holleyâs frustration was evident as she spoke, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
âShe has a point, Belinda. Your actions were incredibly reckless. You should put your health first, no matter what,â Kenia said, shaking her head in dismay.
Belinda felt compelled to explain herself, saying, âThe patient was in a dire state at that time. There was no time to bring in another doctor.â
âI have experienced allergic reactions before and knew I could endure long enough. Look, Iâve managed to pull through, right?â
âYou were playing with fire! Youâre going to drive me mad!â Holley exclaimed, her anger palpable.
