Chapter 434
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Kylee blinked and then explained, âIt just crossed my mind today, so I thought Iâd ask. Every time I think about how Dad betrayed you so early on, I feel a mix of anger and sadness!â
At Kyleeâs words, Carolaâs expression stayed calm, almost as if she felt indifferent to the matter. âItâs all in the past now,â she said softly.
Kylee narrowed her eyes, her lips pressed into a thin line.
Then, she asked, her tone direct and unwavering, âMom, I just donât get it. You have always been so strong and independent. Dad betrayed you ages ago. Why did you put up with it and not leave him?â
Carolaâs face stiffened briefly, but she quickly regained her composure.
âThese are grown-up issues you wouldnât comprehend,â she replied calmly.
Kyleeâs frustration was evident as she exclaimed, âMom! Every time I ask you this, you just dismiss me with that same excuse. Iâm not a kid anymore. Can you please stop treating me like one? And donât try to convince me itâs because you love Dad too much to walk away from him. I know thatâs not the truth. If you really loved Dad, how could you have endured his betrayal and so easily accepted Belinda, his daughter from another woman?â
Carolaâs eyes briefly flickered, and she spoke in a soft voice. âItâs your father who is to blame for his affair. Belinda is just a child; she is innocent.â
Kylee frowned, her expression one of deep frustration. She pressed further, saying, âAlright, I understand Belinda is innocent, but what about Holley? Your attitude toward that mistress isnât even cold. You just turn a blind eye to her and leave it at that! Youâve done nothing more! Even knowing that the moment you left the house, that woman would take your place, you never seemed to care! I find your attitude really odd. This isnât how you should behave if you indeed love Dad.â
After a pause, she continued, âBesides, as long as I can remember, you and Dad have always slept in separate rooms. Mom, I really want to understand the reason behind all of this. Please, just tell me, okay?â
As she spoke, Kyleeâs voice carried a quiet plea.
Carola knitted her brows together even more tightly as she listened to Kylee.
At last, she let out a sigh and said, âYes, there are issues between your father and me. But Kylee, I canât explain it to you right now. I promise, one day, I will share everything with you.â
Kylee bit her lip.
She had already anticipated such an answer from Carola.
She knew Carola wasnât someone who would easily open up about the truth.
Yet, despite understanding this, she couldnât shake her desperate desire to find out the truth.
âAlright, Kylee, itâs getting late. Head back to your room and get some sleep. Iâm tired now,â Carola said, softly urging Kylee to leave.
âOkay, goodnight, Mom.â With no other option, Kylee reluctantly gave in.
