Chapter 438
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Belinda explained, âThereâs a rule at our hospital that we have to eat in the cafeteria before surgery. But I had the breakfast you prepared at home that day, so I ended up breaking the rule.â
âWhat? Your hospital actually has a rule like that?â Holley looked at Belinda in shock, unable to believe what she was hearing.
âYes,â Belinda replied, nodding slightly in confirmation.
âYou silly girl! If thereâs a rule like that, you should have skipped the breakfast I made for you! Now, not only did you have an allergic reaction, but youâve also been punished for it. I feel so awful!â Holley said, her eyes starting to redden instantly.
Belinda gently reassured her, âItâs alright, Mom. This isnât your fault. You woke up early and put so much effort into making me breakfast. How could I let all your hard work go to waste? Who could have ever guessed that Iâd be allergic to artichokes? If it werenât for the allergy, none of this would have happened. So, thereâs no need for you to blame yourself for this.â
Saying this, Belinda gently took a tissue and wiped the tears from Holleyâs eyes.
Sniffling, Holley spoke with sincerity. âBelinda, itâs my fault! I promise this wonât happen again. From now on, there will be no seafood or artichokes in our house.â
Belinda flashed a reassuring smile and replied, âThereâs no need for that, Mom. You all can eat whatever you want. Donât worry about me.â
âNo way! Those things trigger my precious daughterâs allergy! Our entire family despises them nowâweâll never touch them again!â Holley declared, her voice full of indignation.
Belinda pressed her lips together into a faint smile and said nothing else.
âBelinda, are you thirsty? Let me grab you some water,â Holley said gently.
âSure,â Belinda nodded in agreement.
Holley stood up, took Belindaâs cup in hand, and made her way to the water dispenser.
As she turned around, a faint, meaningful smile curved at the corners of her lips.
Holley had spent some time with Belinda before she took the lunchbox and left.
Soon after, there was a knock on Belindaâs door.
The hospital room door swung open, and a tall, imposing man entered.
Belindaâs pupils contracted sharply at the sight of the man.
It was Lucas.
Before Belinda could utter a word, Lucasâ assistant, Gordon, came in with a stack of documents.
Belinda blinked, puzzled. What was going on?
Gordon set the documents on the coffee table, nodded to both Lucas and Belinda, and then left.
âLucas, what are you doing here?â Belinda asked, her brow furrowed.
