Chapter 484
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

With those words, Lucas turned to leave.
âLucas!â Verena cried out urgently.
However, Lucas ignored her, continuing his firm stride away.
âNoââ Verenaâs scream of anguish filled the air as she clutched her head, breaking down in tears.
Throughout the afternoon, the other doctors in the office kept casting odd glances at Belinda. Some looked on with envy, others with curiosity, and a few with caution. Belinda ignored them all.
After work, Belinda changed her clothes and walked to the parking lot. As she approached her car, she came to an abrupt halt. A tall, imposing man stood beside it.
When their eyes met, a flicker of emotion passed between them. Seconds later, Belinda looked away, walking straight to her car. She unlocked it and opened the driverâs side door.
Just as she was about to get in, Lucas reached out and held the door in place. âWe need to talk,â he stated.
Belinda looked up at him and replied calmly, âMr. Clark, Iâve made my stance clear. Thereâs nothing left for us to discuss.â
She tried to enter the car again, but Lucasâ grip on the door stopped her. She met his stare, unwavering.
After a tense five seconds, Lucas finally let go. Belinda quickly slid into the driverâs seat and forcefully shut the door. From buckling her seatbelt to starting the engine, she didnât give him another glance.

Lucas stood watching as she drove off, then followed her in his car.
Belinda noticed him trailing her and frowned. She tried to shake him off several times but couldnât lose him.
As she approached the residential area, she pulled over. Stepping out of her car, she walked directly toward Lucasâ car. Lucas got out as well.
âLucas, when will you stop this?â Belinda demanded angrily.
âI need to talk to you about something, Belinda,â Lucas replied, his tone calm, his lips barely moving.
He paused for a moment, then added, âCan we talk?â
âIf I say no, will you stop pestering me?â Belinda asked coldly.
Lucas remained silent, his steady gaze serving as his only response.
Belinda closed her eyes briefly in resignation, taking a deep breath. After a moment, she opened her eyes, met his gaze, and asked, âWhat do you want to talk about?â
âIâm sorry. I had no idea Verena would say those things to you,â Lucas said, attempting to apologize to Belinda.
Belinda froze for a moment at his words before responding evenly, âOkay, your apology is accepted. What else do you want to say?â
Lucas fixed a deep, searching gaze on Belinda. âVerena said those things to you because I told her I couldnât marry her anymore. Iâve realized⦠I have developed feelings for you,â he said.
