Chapter 610
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Ryanâs head snapped up, his expression shifting into one of shock.
Verena let out a soft chuckle. âYouâre my cousin, Ryan.â
âDo you really think I wouldnât notice? Youâve been particularly concerned about Belinda and Lucas, and it isnât just because of me. When we thought Belinda was just Belinie, you were already interested in her and wanted to pursue her. When her real identity came to light, you acted disgusted by her, as if you couldnât stand the sight of her. But deep down, I know you still feel something for her. Youâre just too stubborn to admit it.â
Ryan remained silent. After a long pause, he finally exhaled deeply. âI canât deny it. I do have feelings for Belinda.â
Verena pressed her lips together for a moment before saying, âNeither of us wants to see Belinda and Lucas together. We need to act now. If their relationship progresses further, itâll be too late for us to intervene.â
Ryan exhaled heavily, rubbing the back of his neck. âVerena, I get it; youâre worried. But look at where we stand. Rushing things wonât fix anything. Lucas is avoiding you and ignoring my calls. Honestly, Iâm out of ideas.â His tone carried a trace of defeat.
Verenaâs gaze hardened, but she kept her composure. âMaybe Lucas is shutting us out, but Vincentâs still on our side. He could reach out to Lucas.â
Hearing this, Ryan fell into thought. He believed Verena was right. He could try persuading Vincent first and then get his help.
Ryan gave a small nod. âOkay. Iâll talk to Vincent. But Verena, we need to be cautious. Pushing too hard could backfire. Lucas is already wary of us.â
Verena replied, âI understand.â At this point, it was her only option. Yet, beneath her composed exterior, anxiety churned relentlessly. On one hand, Lucasâ deliberate avoidance made it nearly impossible for her to even catch a glimpse of him, let alone foster any meaningful connection.
On the other hand, Kaneâs relentless pressure weighed on her like a storm cloud. If there was no progress with Lucas by her next meeting with Kane, he would undoubtedly find new ways to punish her. Her greatest fear was that Lucas and Belinda would continue to grow closer. The smoother their relationship progressed, the slimmer her chances of getting back with Lucas would become.
âAlright, Verena, stop worrying about this for now. Letâs eat,â Ryan said.
Verena blinked, startled back to the present, and gave a small nod.
Later that night, when Lucas returned to the Clark familyâs residence, he found Harold still awake.
âDad, do you know that Belinda is allergic to seafood?â Lucas asked.
Harold turned to look at Lucas. âYeah.â
Lucas furrowed his brow, taking a deep breath. âHow did you know that?â
Harold answered calmly, âIâve had meals with her many times. She never touches seafood. Once, I asked her about it, and she told me.â
Lucasâ breathing quickened slightly. How had he never noticed that before?
