Chapter 622
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Carmelitaâs attitude was overbearing.
Belinda replied, âI think youâve gravely misunderstood the situation, Miss Davidson. I only met with your brother out of respect for Haroldâs good intentions. I just couldnât reject him outright. I am not interested in your brother. I most certainly wonât be with him, so you can rest easy.â
âYouâ¦â Carmelita bristled, feeling somewhat insulted by Belindaâs words.
Belinda shot her a cold look. âIf thatâs all, Miss Davidson, youâll have to excuse me.â
âWait! Do you really not like my brother?â Carmelita couldnât seem to help herself from asking that question.
But before Belinda could answer, a deep, male voice echoed. âCarmelita!â
Devin strode over to them with a stormy expression on his face.
He turned to Belinda and said, âIâm so sorry about this, Miss Wright. Please donât take my sisterâs words to heart.â
âItâs fine.â Although she said this, Belinda was still a little puzzled by the situation. âYou two should talk this out.â
With that, she turned away and left.
Devin opened his mouth to call her back but then thought better of it. He turned to Carmelita and demanded, âWhat nonsense did you say to her?â
Carmelita blinked innocently. âI wasnât talking nonsense! I simply told her to stay away from you.â
Devinâs expression immediately changed. âWhat did you just say?â
âWhatâs wrong with that?â Carmelita huffed defensively. âSheâs a divorced womanâsheâs not worthy of you! I donât want someone like her to latch onto you.â
A low growl of frustration came from Devinâs throat. He took a deep breath and glared at Carmelita. His next words were spoken slowly through gritted teeth. âDo you know that I want her to get closer to me?â
Carmelita froze in shock. âWhat?
Carmelita gaped at Devin, disbelief written all over her face. For a moment, she was convinced she had misheard him.
âDevin, what⦠What did you just say?â she asked.
Devin replied, âI just need you to remember one thingâdonât get involved in my affairs anymore.â
With that, he turned on his heel and left.
Carmelita snapped back to her senses and ran after him. âHey! Devin, wait up! What do you mean by that, exactly?â
Once the siblings were gone, Kylee emerged from her hiding spot, where she had been eavesdropping. Jealousy and resentment flickered in her eyes. Why did all these outstanding men have to fall for Belinda? What was so special about her?
But since Devin seemed to also be interested in Belinda, Kylee believed she could use him to her advantage. Her eyes narrowed as a plan began to take shape in her mind.
