Chapter 632
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

As she spoke, she took the phone still tightly gripped in Minnaâs hand. Using Minnaâs fingerprint, she unlocked it and began scanning through the contents. When she opened the messaging app, her brows arched slightly. A draft message appeared, unsent. The text read, âCome to the lounge; thereâs a surprise waiting for you.â There was no contact name saved, leaving the recipientâs identity a mystery.
Without a hint of hesitation, Belinda sent the message. She placed the phone back in Minnaâs hand.
Her voice calm, she instructed the nearby waiter, âTake her to the lounge. Close the door behind her and then hide somewhere close by.â
The waiter gave a brisk nod before dragging Minna into the lounge.
About five minutes later, echoing footsteps reached Belinda and Lucas. They turned to see a man appear. The man was short and plain-looking. He strode to the lounge and stepped inside. The moment he entered the room, the waiter locked the door from the outside with a key.
Belinda tilted her head toward Lucas. âDo you know who that man is?â
Lucasâ jaw tightened, his expression darkening. âMoshe Burke,â he said. His eyes burned with barely contained fury. Taking a steadying breath, he continued, âHeâs the illegitimate son of the Burke familyâs head. Word is, he is violent and takes pleasure in tormenting people.â
Both of his last wives died not long after marrying him.â Belindaâs lips curled into a cold smile. Minna had really outdone herself this time, finding her a âgoodâ man. Minna could enjoy this man herself nowâ¦
Belinda snapped back from her thoughts. Before she could say more, movement caught her eye. Mollie and Darren approached her with serious expressions.
âBelinda, are you okay? What happened?â Mollie asked, her concern evident.
Belinda blinked and smiled. âMollie, Iâm fine, really. I just stepped out for some air. When I heard the noise, I decided to see what was happening.â
Mollieâs brows knitted together as she studied Belinda, but Belindaâs expression was unreadable. Besides, it didnât seem like the earlier incident had anything to do with Belinda. Still uncertain, Mollie asked again, âYouâre sure youâre okay? Donât lie to me.â
âIâm fine, Mollie. Donât worry,â Belinda assured her with a smile.
âAlright,â Mollie said. She gave a small nod, unable to detect anything amiss.
As Mollie and Darren turned to leave, Belindaâs gaze met Johnsonâs and Bethanyâs. A subtle exchange passed between them, wordless but clear. Johnson and Bethany nodded in understanding and made their way toward the banquet hall.
Soon, Belinda and Lucas were left alone. Belinda pressed her lips together, hesitating briefly before speaking. âThank you for tonight,â she said, her voice sincere. The memory of the evening lingered in her mind.
If Lucas hadnât been there, she wasnât sure if she could have dealt with the waiter on her own.
