Chapter 686
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Continuing her inquiry, Kenia said, âSome recent news has come to my attention. Did Lucas really exchange billions in real estate for a video that clears your name?â
With a nod, Belinda replied, âUh⦠Yes, he did.â
Keniaâs face grew even more stern. âWhile Iâm thankful to Lucas for what he has done for you, it worries me. Iâm concerned his actions might soften your resolve and persuade you to give him another chance.â
Belinda quickly replied, âNo, Grandma, thereâs no need for concern. I havenât thought about that at all.â Her tone was firm.
Gazing at Belinda, Kenia said, âMaybe not now, but what about later? Are you sure you wonât change your mind in the future?â
Belinda paused, momentarily lost for words.
Kenia sighed, a look of resignation crossing her face. âMy fear is that youâll forgive him and forget about the pain youâve endured because of him.â
Belinda averted her gaze, saying softly, âDonât worry, Grandma. I know what Iâm doing. I wonât repeat the same mistake.â
Belinda was not only assuring Kenia but also reinforcing her own resolve.
Kenia bluntly expressed her hope, saying, âWell, I do hope you wonât end up back together with Lucas.â

âOkay,â Belinda said, her face showing a hint of resignation.
Kenia had always disapproved of her relationship with Lucas from the very beginning. This disapproval remained unchanged.
Just outside the room, Holley stood listening in secret, her eyes narrowing slightly as she overheard the conversation. She, too, was opposed to Belinda reconciling with Lucas. Such a reunion would not serve her familyâs interests.
Baker had previously informed her that Kylee had discovered her true identity, a fact that had left her on edge.
On one hand, she felt some reliefâKylee was now aware of the truth, allowing her to treat her as her daughter and visit her more frequently without concealing her love. But on the other hand, she was very uneasy, worried that Kylee might reject her upon learning that her biological mother had been a mistress.
Determined to prove herself, Holley resolved to do more for Kylee, hoping to be seen as a competent and loving mother.
When she had learned of Belindaâs return, she had hastened to eavesdrop on Belindaâs conversation with Kenia, hoping to discover something useful. Yet, as the conversation drifted to other subjects, Holley, finding nothing of value, silently retreated to her room.
In the Burke familyâs residence, in Minna and Mosheâs bedroom:
âWhy are you here? Leave!â Minna demanded, her eyes filled with disgust.
âThis is my room, too. Why should I leave?â Moshe responded.
âNot anymore! Iâve claimed this room as mine!â Minna exclaimed, crossing her arms and lifting her chin with pride. âMoshe, do you really believe that our marriage makes us a real couple?â
