Chapter 713
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Macieâs palms began to sweat.
âItâs all because of Belinda! I wouldnât be in this mess if it werenât for her!â Minna exclaimed, her voice breaking as she collapsed into sobs.
Macie rolled her eyes silently. Minna had been the one to instigate the feud with Belinda by plotting against her. It was just that she had never imagined her schemes would backfire so disastrously. In truth, Minna had only herself to blame.
âI swear, Belinda will payâtenfold, no, a thousand times over for what Iâve suffered! I wonât rest until I get my revenge!â Minnaâs face twisted with fury as she spat out the words. Macie, however, stayed silent.
Minna turned to Macie, her eyes filled with desperation. âMacie, I need your help. Youâre my only hope now!â
When Macie heard Minnaâs words, a cold wave of fear gripped her. The situation had already escalated to this point, yet Minna still wanted to target Belinda.
âMinna, pleaseâjust let it go! We donât stand a chance against them, not against Belinda or Mr. Clark. Theyâre too dangerous!â Macieâs voice quivered with urgency.
âLet it go? After everything theyâve doneâdestroying my life, leaving me in ruins, and forcing me to marry that repulsive Moshe? How can I let it go?â Minnaâs fury boiled over, her eyes reddening and her face twisting with pure hatred.
âBut⦠Butâ¦â Macie stammered, trying to reason with Minna.
âStop! I donât want to hear it! I wonât let them get away with thisâno matter the cost!â Minnaâs cold glare pinned Macie in place as she sneered, âAnd donât think youâre off the hook, either!â
Macieâs stomach churned at those words. Her face turned ashen, her fear betraying her.
When Minna saw Macieâs terrified expression, her lips curled into a sinister smile.
âLook at me,â she said, her voice calm. âIâve lost everything. Things canât get any worse for me. Iâve got nothing left to lose, so Iâll drag everyone down with me if I have to. What do I have to fear? And if I fall⦠Iâll make sure you go down with me. Got it?â
The harsh, venomous words caused Macieâs face to twist into an even more dreadful expression.
In the end, all she could do was bite her lip and give a small nod. âI get it.â
Minna chuckled darkly, her voice dripping with menace. âGood, Macie. Just rememberâweâre in this together.â
Macie forced an uneasy smile, but the weight of those words left her mute. As she left the Burke familyâs residence, a sudden gust of cold wind made her shiver.
