Chapter 801
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Harold stared at him for a long moment before he looked relieved. âSo, youâve finally made up your mind about her.â He sighed, leaning back. âGood. About time.â
After a beat, he added, âSince thatâs the case, I wonât push Belinda into any more blind dates or try to pair her with Devin. Butâ¦â
âI wonât help you, either. If you want to be with Belinda, youâll have to rely on your own efforts to win her over!â Harold said.
Lucas nodded, unfazed. âI understand.â
He hadnât expected Harold to intervene on his behalf anyway. Still, knowing Harold wouldnât try to push Belinda toward Devin gave him a measure of relief.
The next day, Lucas had planned to go to Belindaâs place that evening to teach her how to swim.
But that afternoon, Bethany called Belinda, inviting her out for dinner. So, when Lucas later called to confirm his plan, Belinda told him not to come to her place tonight.
After work, Belinda met Bethany at their favorite restaurant.
While they were eating, a thought struck Belinda. She set her fork down and narrowed her eyes at Bethany.
âHey, be honest. Did you tell Lucas I was looking for a swimming instructor?â
Bethany froze mid-bite, her eyes darting away. âWellâ¦â
That was all the confirmation Belinda needed. She crossed her arms and said, âSeriously, Bethany? Whatâs going on with you? Werenât you the one telling me Lucas and I were a terrible idea? And now, youâre out here playing Cupid?â
Bethany pouted and then said, âOkay, fine! Yes, I told him that. But hear me out! My opinion has changed, alright? At first, I didnât think you and Lucas were a good match. But after that hot spring trip, I started seeing Lucas differently. So I figured, whatâs the harm in giving him a little nudge? I mean, all I did was tell him you wanted to learn to swim. Thatâs it!â
gαâηÏνððsâ¤com, home to unforgettable stories Belinda leaned back, processing her words in silence.
Bethany seized the opportunity to say, âSo, what about you? What are your thoughts on Lucas now?â
Belinda sighed and shook her head. âHonestly, I like the way things are now. I enjoy being single. My life is finally mine, and Iâm not about to change that.â
Bethany considered her answer and then nodded approvingly. âYouâre right! Single life suits you. You are stunning, independent, and donât need anyone to feel complete. Your happiness comes first. Butâ¦â She smirked mischievously. âIf Lucas really likes you, let him pursue you. A little effort wonât hurt him!â
Belinda couldnât help but laugh.
Bethany always supported her; she was truly a good friend.
During the meal, Bethany went to the restroom.
When she returned from the restroom ten minutes later, however, her expression was dark.
âBelinda, grab your bag. We need to leave. Now.â Bethanyâs voice was low but urgent as she snatched her purse and pulled Belinda to her feet.
âWhat? Whatâs going on?â Belinda asked, alarmed, as she scrambled to follow.
Bethany didnât answer, leading Belinda toward the exit.
They moved quickly through the restaurant, heading toward the open-air parking lot.
