Chapter 806
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

As planned, Belinda and Bethany were enjoying a round of drinks with Catherine. They had taken a private room, and they had been drinking for half an hour now.
Instead of talking, however, they merely drank in silence.
Catherine downed another glass before finally speaking. âToday is the day Iâm ending my relationship with Lelandâfor good!â
Belinda exchanged a glance with Bethany.
Bethany said, âYouâre doing the right thing. A scumbag like that doesnât deserve another chance from you!â
Belinda stated matter-of-factly, âLeland could never let go of Hailee. It is what it is. You can choose to forgive him and reconcile this time, and he can promise you heâll never see Hailee again, but it will just be empty talk on his part. If Hailee ever gets in danger again, Leland would no doubt rush to her without a secondâs hesitation.â
She knew this kind of situation all too well.
Lucas and Verena had been the same way in the past.
Catherine shook her head. âI wonât give him another chance. I already said that last time was his last chance.â
She inhaled slowly, and the smile on her lips turned bitter. âHonestly, I believe Leland when he said he arranged for a male escort for Hailee. Itâs just his unwavering attachment to her that I cannot accept. Itâs like a thorn that has burrowed into the deepest parts of my heart. As long as Iâm with him, Iâll never be able to pull that thorn out. Iâd rather end this anguish now so I can move on. I know it will hurt, but Iâm sure itâs far less painful than the torture I would endure if I stayed with him.â
As she said this, Catherineâs eyes glimmered with resolve.
âYouâre right. And youâre very strong for doing that.â Belinda nodded at her in encouragement.
Catherine didnât say anything else. She just carried on drinking, one glass after another.
She had a low tolerance for alcohol, though, and before long, she was passed out drunk on the couch.
Belinda sighed lightly and told Bethany, âTell Johnson to come over.â They had already messaged Johnson earlier, giving him their location, but he had decided to wait in the next room. He didnât want to disturb them.
âOkay.â Bethany nodded.
Soon, Johnson walked through the door.
Johnsonâs brows furrowed when he saw Catherineâs drunken state.
âWhat happened, exactly? Did Leland mistreat Cathy again?â
âWell, actuallyâ¦â Bethany proceeded to recount the entire situation. Johnsonâs demeanor changed as he listened. The more he listened, the colder his aura became.
âThe good thing is that Catherine has finally seen reason,â Belinda said. âShe has resolved to never give Leland another chance.â
Even so, Johnsonâs face still darkened. âIf they get back together,â he said through gritted teeth, âIâll break that bastardâs legs myself.â
Belinda smiled and waved a hand at him. âAlright. Now, hurry up and take Catherine home.â
Without another word, Johnson carefully pulled Catherine into his arms and carried her out of the room. Belinda and Bethany also left shortly after.
Johnson took Catherine back to the Hoffman familyâs residence. He gently carried her out of the car and all the way to her bedroom. He set her down on the bed, wiped her face, and then tucked her under the covers.
