Chapter 810
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius
Her voice rose to a shout as she threw the papers to the floor.
Verena remained calm. âThen maybe take a look at these,â she said, pulling out a set of photographs and passing them over.
Minnaâs hands trembled as she flipped through the photos. Each one was like a punch to the gut. Her entire body shook with fury.
Verena leaned back in her chair, almost relaxed, as she continued. âYour father has been seeing another woman for quite a while now. Sheâs pregnant. Due next month, in fact. Itâs a boy.â
Minnaâs lips parted in shock, but Verena wasnât done. âOh, and hereâs a will. Youâll want to see this, too,â Verena said, pulling out another document and sliding it across the table.
The word âwillâ made Minnaâs stomach drop. She snatched the papers and scanned them quickly.
Her father had left her just ten percent of his assets. The remaining ninety percent? It was going to the unborn child. Her fingers tightened around the pages as rage overtook her.
Verena watched her carefully and then said, almost nonchalantly, âTo be honest, I think your father gave up on you the day you married Moshe. Oh, and letâs not forget about your best friendâMacie. I have some footage you should see.â
Minnaâs head snapped up. âMacie?â
Verena pulled out her phone, tapped a few times, and handed it over to Minna.
The video was short but damningâMacie walking into the Triumph Consortium building.
Minnaâs eyes narrowed as she stared at the timestamp.
Her mind raced. That was the same day Macie had visited her at the Burke estate.
She replayed the sequence in her head. First, Macie had come to see her, acting friendly and supportive. Then, straight to the Triumph Consortium?
What did this mean?
Verena broke the silence. âIf I were to guess, Macie has probably been working for Lucas for a while. Remember when you suggested calling her for help? Imagine if you had done that. Youâd probably be captured by now.â
âNo!â Minna shouted, her voice trembling with intense rage. âThatâs impossible! Macie wouldnât betray me. She wouldnât dare!â
âBetween you and Lucas, who do you think Macie would choose? Itâs quite obvious,â Verena sneered. âIf you donât believe me, feel free to test her and see for yourself.â
She gestured toward the phone Minna was holding. âGo ahead and send Macie a message. Tell her to meet you tomorrow night at a location only the two of you know. Youâll get your answer soon enough.â
Minna took a deep breath and shook off any hesitation she felt. She quickly composed a text just as Verena had suggested and then sent it to Macie.
Deep down, she refused to believe that the people in her life would all betray and abandon her.
Unbeknownst to Minna, however, the will in her possession was a fake. Verenaâs people had forged the document.
Verenaâs goal was to sever Minnaâs ties to others, effectively blocking any possible escape route. She wanted to completely isolate Minna from the rest of the world, so Minna would have no one else to rely on but her.
That way, Minna could go all out and deal with Belinda!
