Chapter 884
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

The corners of Lucasâs lips tilted slightly.
âNot much, really. I told her how I feel about you and that I hoped sheâd stop being so opposed to me.â He suspected that the hormones in Belindaâs body and the dark mark on her face before were related to Holley, but he refrained from mentioning it to Belinda. He didnât want to disturb her mood any further.
Belinda didnât question Lucasâs words. She simply nodded.
Meanwhile, Holley hadnât actually left the hospital. She was waiting in the parking lot for Kenia and Sarai.
Kenia and Sarai soon approached Holley, and they all got into the car and drove back.
âWhat did Belinda do to upset you this time?â Kenia asked Holley.
âShe asked me right to my face if she could still trust me. Can you believe that, Mom? Isnât she going too far? Iâm her mother, for goodnessâ sake! She canât even trust me, the woman who brought her into this world? How can I not get mad at that? I feel insulted and heartbroken!â Holleyâs voice cracked a little.
Kenia heaved a long sigh.
âKenia, what did Mr. Clark say to you?â Sarai asked from the driverâs seat.
âThatâs right,â Holley chimed in with a sniff.
âYou two talked for so long. What did you discuss?â
Kenia was upfront about the conversation.

Holleyâs pupils shrank in an instant when she heard that.
âWhy would Mr. Clark abruptly bring this up?â Holley blinked, her eyebrows knitting together in evident confusion.
âMr. Clark told me that he intends to begin investigating this matter,â Kenia replied.
When Holley heard that, her demeanor shifted instantly, her heart racing with apprehension. A wave of anxiety surged within her, but she forced herself to remain composed, carefully maintaining a neutral expression.
âIsnât it peculiar?â Sarai said, a slight furrow forming between her brows.
âWho would have imagined that Belindaâs childhood weight gain was the result of unknowingly consuming hormones? But the real question isâwho could have been responsible for administering those hormones to her?â
Her voice carried a note of confusion, her mind already sifting through possibilities.
âWe donât know that. Thatâs why Mr. Clark wants to investigate the matter,â Kenia said.
Sarai gave a slight nod and didnât say anything more.
Holley, meanwhile, kept her lips pressed together in a firm line. Her fingers twisted together unconsciously, betraying the turmoil she struggled to contain.
Keniaâs sharp eyes didnât miss the subtle gesture.
