Chapter 899
His unwanted wife, the world’s coveted genius

Lucas was slated to have his stitches removed and be discharged today. When Belinda arrived, Lucas had already undergone his stitch removal procedure.
Belinda examined his wound closely and felt reassured to see it healing effectivelyâno signs of infection or complications.
âCome on, Iâll drive you home,â she said.
âYou just finished a night shift. Are you sure youâre up for driving?â Lucas arched an eyebrow, concern evident in his voice.
Belinda reassured him, âItâs alright. The department was quiet last night, and I went to the rest area and slept for a while. I got enough rest.â
âIf you say so.â Lucas studied her for a moment longer before nodding in agreement.
On the way home, Belinda recounted the events of the previous night to Lucas.
After sharing the story, Belinda couldnât help but feel a bit surprised at herself.
Why was she telling this to Lucas?
Upon hearing Belindaâs words, Lucas felt an overwhelming sense of joy swell within him.
He was delighted that Belinda had begun to open up willingly about her experiences with him.
Regardless of her reasons, he was simply grateful she trusted him enough to open up, to let him into her world, even if just a little.
A soft smile curved his lips. He then turned toward Belinda and said, âYour head of department really messed up this time.â
âUltimately, it all comes down to his own negligence. Even though he was supposed to conduct a thorough examination afterward, he completely disregarded the patientâs medical records! That level of carelessness is inexcusable, especially for a doctor of his stature.â
After a pause, she continued, âHis overconfidence has clouded his judgment. Since he has performed mitral valve replacement surgeries countless times, he assumed he could anticipate every possible complication from the outset. Naturally, that led to carelessness, and this time, it nearly cost the patientâs life. I informed him early on that this patientâs situation was unique. But did he take me seriously? Not at all! What more could I do?â
As she spoke, she shrugged in exasperation, her frustration palpable.
Lucas nodded thoughtfully.
âThis experience has surely been a wake-up call for him. At least now, moving forward, he wonât repeat the same error and will be more cautious with his patients. Thatâs a positive outcome in itself. Now, it ultimately hinges on how your superiors choose to deal with him and Kylee.â
âYeah,â Belinda agreed.
When Belinda and Lucas returned to the Clark familyâs residence, they found Harold and Norma comfortably settled in the living room, watching television.
âYouâre back! Howâs Lucasâ injury?â Harold asked with a warm grin that lit up his face.
