Chapter 195 Contagious
The Crown's Entrapment
At Hindman Manor
As soon as Bartos entered their bedchamber, Jayra found herself confined to the bed for the entire night.
âAh please⦠no more. I feel like dying already,â she gasped as she felt Bartos hover on top of her. She had already lost count of how many times they did it, and she felt so exhausted and drained that sheâd probably die if they went at it again. If not for Bartosâs strength that she was taking in as her own, she would probably still be unconscious by now!
Hearing her, Bartos chuckled as he moved back to her side, cuddling Jayra in his arms as he relented. âFine, letâs rest for a bit more.â
Jayra sighed, âYou do know that Iâm still human, right?â
âHmm, I donât mind you sucking out all my energy if it means you can keep up with me,â Bartos plainly answered..
âBut sucking at your core energy isnât a good thing to do often, Bartos,â Jayra scolded. âEspecially if itâs just so that I can keep up with your nonstop stamina during se*x.â
Flashing a faint smile, Bartos kissed her head lovingly and said, âAlright, Iâll do as you say, my dear wife.â
Jayra giggled at his words. The butterflies that fluttered inside her stomach always seemed to multiply whenever Bartos would address her as his wife. The gesture made her feel that the whole was so surreal⦠That it was nothing but a dream⦠And yet it wasnât.
âWho wouldâve thought that the grumpy Bartos would end up calling me his wife?â Jayra voiced out with a scoff. âWhy, I can still remember how much you sulked whenever you looked at me the first time we met. You were so intimidating⦠Well, it was a good thing Lord Gideon was always there to lift the mood and break the tension that you were creating back then.â
âHmm⦠I indeed have a temper, Jayra, so allow me to ask you in advance that you be extra patient with me,â Bartos cheekily replied.
âIn my defense, I was still in denial at the time, seeing as I found it hard to accept the fact that I have a human mate like His Majesty. I just feel like humans are too complicated to handle, witnessing how His Majesty also having a hard time handling Princess Xenia.â He chuckled, âBut then you proved me wrong. I guess Iâm just lucky that youâre soâ¦â
âSo easy?â Jayra finished his words for him, much to his horror.
It wasnât like she wasnât aware of how easily she easily accepted Bartos into her life. She could even imagine that most people might just call her a whore because of it.
âI didnât mean it negatively, my wife. I merely paused because I was looking for a more appropriate word to describe it without you taking it in a bad way,â Bartos explained himself as he spoke in length. âWhat I wanted to say is that youâre someone that I could easily get along with. Youâre like an open book. One who doesnât hesitate to show herself regardless of the consequences.â
As if preparing herself to also speak in length, Jayra let out a small sigh as she replied. âItâs because Iâve already experienced a lot in my life, Bartos. Iâm not sheltered like Princess Xenia, and I also know how the world works outside of the safe zones within our kingdom,â she explained.
âIn my twenty-eight years of living, I can honestly say that nothing is permanent in this world. All except for change. And with that knowledge, I want to live my life without any regrets, allowing myself to do what I think would make me happy no matter what anyone says about my decisions.â
She continued, âTo my liegeâs defense, Princess Xenia is still young. She doesnât have any experience with men or relationships, so you can say that sheâs still immature compared to me.â
She puffed up her chest as she proudly grinned, âThatâs why Iâm often beside her anyways. That way, I can at least knock her back into reality whenever I notice that sheâs hesitating on certain things.â
Oh, how she loved her role as Princess Xeniaâs older sister. Well, being six years ahead of the Princess certainly helped cement her role.
âSo youâve been in a relationship before,â Bartos coolly observed. âHow come youâre still a virgin then?â
Jayra lifted her head and saw how Bartosâs expression dimmed from her words.
âPlease donât tell me youâre feeling jealous knowing that Iâve been in a relationship before,â she sighed. âItâs all in the past now. Besides, none of them manage to do more than kissing and hugging me, so- Seriously?â
Jayra scoffed as Bartos growled at her. Shaking her head, she shrugged. âYouâre really not doing yourself favors right now, you know.â
Ignoring her words, Bartos continued to frown as he grunted, âWhat can I say? I feel like killing those men who dared to kiss and hug you even if itâs all in the past.â
Jayra chuckled and teased, âIf you put it like that, there will be too many men for you to kill, husband. Donât tell me you havenât been in a relationship before. Youâre thirty-one, and Iâm aware of how wild a werewolfâs sex drive can be.â
She spoke in length once more, âYour carnal desires are something, right? You might still be waiting or looking for your mate, but youâre still a man who can get attracted to certain women before finally meeting the one for you. Why, I even heard of stories where some werewolves fell in love with another person before they met their mates. Thatâs when the rejection sometimes happens.â
âI know how it works, wife,â Bartos chuckled. âAlso, Iâve never been in a serious relationship at all, Jayra. Iâve only humped women occasionally, but thatâs only because I can say that wonât take it to the next level. Iâve vowed to myself that I will only have a real relationship and marry once I found one true mate. If I havenât found or met her yet, then Iâll just end up being single and occasionally humping women to satisfy my carnal needs.â
âWell, arenât you lucky to have met me then, youâre one true mate?â Jayra said with a grin.
Leaning down, she gave Bartos a sweet and soft kiss on the lips before hugging him lovingly. âAnyway, letâs not talk about the past. The only thing that matters now is The present and our future, Bartos,â Jayra smiled. âI may lack a lot of things, but I will do my best to be a good wife to you, and a future mother to our future children.â
âThank you, Jayra⦠thank you for not making me not spend my life being a single man,â Bartos gratefully stated, making Jayra tilt her head to glare at him.
Lifting an eyebrow, she taunted, âIs that so?â
He chuckled, âI mean, thank you for coming into my life and bringing more color into it.â
Jayra smiled and teased, âHmm⦠At least your social skills are improving now, husband. You can somehow tease me every once in a while, huhâ¦â
âYour bright personality is probably contagious, my wife,â Bartos chortled. âThough, I donât mind getting infected with it.â
