Chapter 143
Hitched & Hitched Again: A Comedy of Marital Mayhem ( Elysia and Tarquin)
âDidnât you just go see the kid this morning? How come you havenât had a chance to talk to him yet?â
Elysia sighs, âYou probably wouldnât believe me if I told you.â
âHmm?â
âBefore we went there today, the wild man said that if I could spend enough ten minutes with his son, Iâd be rewarded ten thousand dollars, in cash.â
âHoly shit, isnât that a giveaway?â
âI thought so at that time, but not to mention ten minutes, I was kicked out by Elijah in just three minutes.â
Blossom gasped, her wideâeyed shock unmistakable.
âDoes he have a history of violence or something?â
*Bipolar disorder, so yeah, he can be impulsive. And when he has an episode⦠letâs just say he doesnât just smash vases. Heâs been known to hurt himself, too.â
Blossom paused, her voice tinged with concem. âYou know, Iâve worked with a lot of kids, but theyâve all been healthy. Iâve never had to deal with anything like this.â
âWell, of course you havenât,â Elysia replied. âKids with mental health issues donât usually go to regular schools. Theyâre often introverted, unwilling to open up and connect with others.â
âItâs just heartbreaking, you know? You wish all kids could be happy and healthy.â
Elysia let out a soft sigh. âWith Elijah, itâs a tough situation.â
âSo whatâs the wild man saying now? If his son wonât even let you near him, does that mean heâll stop bothering you?â
âI think so. He hasnât reached out since I left. Probably realized Iâm not the one who can help Elijah and has given up on me.â
Blossom shrugged. âMaybe thatâs for the best. You didnât want to get too involved with him anyway.â
Elysia nodded. âYeah, thatâs true.â
But as much as she said she didnât want to be involved, the lack of contact from him was strangely unsettling. She couldnât help but feel anxious about Elijah.
Blossom continued, âThe design industry is cutthroat these days. There are more designers than jobs, and the competition is fierce. Honestly, you might be better off focusing on child education, maybe even specializing in special needs. Thereâs a real demand for that.â
Elysia was pulled back from her thoughts. âIâve been looking.into certification for special education.
Gotta get that paper first.â
ow, youâre actually lucky.
speaking, leaving Jindale City âExactly, itâs all about the credentials now. Without them, schools and parents wonât trust you. But yo Bumping into Corbin and helping him has made you somewhat of a name in their circles. Profession might not be the smartest move. Corbinâs family could lead to a lot of resources and referrals.â Elysia understood what Blossom meant. There were many kids like Corbin and Elijah, struggling with mental health issues, and their families often networked.
With Corbinâs improvement, her reputation had been bolstered. Elijah had sought her out based on Corbinâs progress, and more parents could follow.
As much as she wished for all children to be healthy, reality was different. Many needed help, and she could support herself by providing that help, much like a doctor treats patients.
Staying in Jindale City could mean a flourishing career, but⦠lacking certification was a major obstacle.
And deep down, she didnât want to raise her kids in this city, with all its painful memories.
Shaking her head, Elysia made up her mind/âI still want to leave Jindale City. Find a new place to call home.â
Blossom nodded understandingly. âWhatever you decide, youâve got my support. And hey, with the way things are connected these days, wherever you settle down, Iâll be there in a heartbeat to visit.â
