Chapter 51
Hitched & Hitched Again: A Comedy of Marital Mayhem ( Elysia and Tarquin)
Blossom couldnât care less, âYou know, Iâve been working as a teacher, and thereâs this kid in my class whose parents are in the middle of a nasty divorce. The momâs always the one dropping off and showing up for school events. She even made it crystal clear that no one but her is allowed to pick up her little one.
Sc, naturally, we follow the parentsâ wishes. When the kidâs grandma came to pick him up, I had to turn her away and even gave the mom a call to let her know. Grandma did not take it well. She lost her temper and lashed out.â
âI saw the video online. It was chaotic, and she hit you.â Elysia said.
âJust a slap on the face. But my colleague pulled me away in a flash. No harm done, see?â Blossom continued, âIf she hadnât been a senior citizen, I wouldâve given her a piece of my mind.â
Elysia sighed, âWell, you havenât changed a bit. If that were Winona, she wouldnât care who it was.
Sheâd probably break the womanâs arm just to calm down.â
Blossom laughed off the comment, âI didnât want to lose my job over some old lady. Letâs not talk about this mess. Itâs great that youâre back, though. Winonaâs going to be thrilled when she hears about it.
Just wish I knew when sheâs coming back.â
âWhere did Winona go?â Elysia asked.
âHer husband Zane mentioned sheâs abroad, shooting a movie. Itâs been over a year, and we canât reach her all the time.â
âCanât reach her?â
âYeah, sheâs on some topâsecret project. Signed a nonâdisclosure agreement and canât contact anyone outside the crew during the shoot.â
âHave you tried reaching out to her agent?â
âSame story. Agentâs under a nonâdisclosure agreement too. The whole crew is.â
Elysia was intrigued. What kind of play required such secrecy? She mused.
âDidnât Zane go with her?â she quipped.
Blossom shook her head, âZaneâs been busy managing Winonaâs family company. He canât just up and leave.â
Winona Newsom was the only child of the Newsom family, and her father Ridley Newsom was a wellâ
known entrepreneur in Jindale City. With a solid family fortune behind her, Winona, a classic heiress with looks and talent to spare, had made quite a name for herself in showbiz, thanks to her perseverance and the backing of the entire Newsom Group. She was a household name and a topâtier celebrity within three years.
50:04 Cane, however, had a very different upbringing The quintessential selfâmade man grew up in a rural area, came from a poor family, and had many siblings to fend for. Meeting Winona in college was like a fairy tale they fell in love at first sight and got married right after graduation. Zaneâs fortunes soared as he became the Newsom familyâs sonâinâlaw, a testament to the power of education to change oneâs life, âHas Zane been good to Winona over the years?â Elysia asked.
âOh, the best. Zaneâs known in Jindale City as the ideal husband and sonâinâlaw. No one has a bad word to say about him. Unlike you, Winona really hit the jackpot. You skipped out on college to get married, and look how that turned out. Got yourself played by a scumbag.â
The details of Elysiaâs forced marriage to Tarquin Bradford were unknown to Blossom and Winona. Due to the marriage being arranged under duress, Elysia was also coerced into â algning a nonâdisclosure agreementâ¦
At the time, even the Thorne family had no clue that it was the Bradford family who had come knocking with a lot wedding gifts for Daphne Thorneâs hand in marriage. It was only after tying the knot that Elysia found out her husband was from the Bradford clan, named Tarquin.
She had heard that the Bradfords, trying to improve Tarquinâs ill fortune, had selected Daphne based on his apparatus. The Bradfords didnât reveal their identity when proposing; they just offered a hefty money and mentioned that the groom was disabled, hoping Daphne would marry him to fulfill his needs.
Daphne, upon hearing her suitor was disabled, refused outright, throwing a fit and threatening to take her own life rather than go through with the marriage.
