Chapter 63
Hitched & Hitched Again: A Comedy of Marital Mayhem ( Elysia and Tarquin)
She never would have guessed that a member of the prestigious Bradford family could be so utterly duplicitous.
He had agreed on a divorce, and yet, here he was, not going through with it.
After queuing for over two hours at the city hall, Elysia was fuming to learn that Tarquin had once again changed his mind about the divorce.
She was so angry she could have strangled him right then and there!
To back out, to break oneâs word, he was worse than an animalâ¦
Despite everything, Elysia had held a certain respect for Tarquin, but today, she couldnât help but curse him up and down in her mind.
It took ages for her to calm down, her breaths heavy with rage as she stormed out of the city hall.
If it werenât for Blossom and the triplets waiting for her at home, she would have marched straight to the Bradford Groupâs headquarters or the Bradford family estate to confront them!
What kind of game was this, agreeing to a divorce and then refusing to follow through? It was outright bullying!
Taking a cab back home, Elysia felt another pang of distress when paying the fare. These last few days, sheâd spent over a hundred just on taxi rides, and all for nothingâthe divorce was still up in the air.
However, her sorrowful mood was quickly dispelled by the laughter echoing from inside her house.
Blossom was playing with the kids, âNow tell me, isnât your godmother just gorgeous?â
The triplets chimed in unison, âGorgeous!â
âAnd am I not the cutest thing youâve ever seen?â
âSuper cute!â
âDo I not remind you of a fairy?â
âYouâre a fairy!â
The peals of Blossomâs laughter threatened to lift the roof off the house.
Even Elysia couldnât help but crack a smile, pushing the door open to join them.
The triplets spotted her and scrambled up from the floor, charging at her like little tiger cubs, shouting in chorus.
20.09 âMommyl âMommyl âMommyl Elysia echoed their calls, doling out kisses, one for each, perfectly fair and loving.
Blossom was beside herself with excitement, âThe triplets are just too adorable and so handsome, tooâ
I canât get enough!â
Elysia chuckled, âWell, why donât you have a few of your own?â
âNo way, childbirth is painful and scary, plus Iâm all about good looks. What if they donât turn out as cute? Itâs not like I can just put them back!â
Elysia teased her, âYour folks have only you for a daughter, and theyâre eager for grandkids. Youâll have to have a baby sooner or later.â
âNot happening. No matter what you say, Iâm their godmother now. When my parents get back, Iâm taking the triplets to meet them and telling them, âLook at my three handsome sons!â
Elysia smiled helplessly and asked, âWhatâs for dinner?â
âItâs all setâJinpeach Restaurant, my treat.â
âThat place? Isnât it expensive?â
âA place any less wouldnât do justice to my precious boysâ good looks. Iâve already reserved a private room, so no dillyâdallying. Get ready to go.â
Though Elysia was concerned about the cost, she didnât want to dampen everyoneâs spirits. She capitulated and told the triplets, âGo get changed; weâre going out for a feast with your godmother.â
âYay, feast time!â
The triplets were ecstatic.
Once the kids were out of earshot, Blossom leaned in, âCongrats on ditching the deadbeat. Show me the divorce papers!â
Elysiaâs face fell, âDidnât go through.â
âWhat?â
âShh, the kids donât know about the divorce.â
Anxious, Blossom lowered her voice, âWhat happened? I thought you were finalizing it this afternoon.
Why didnât it go through?â
âHe stood me up.â
Blossom anorted. âWhatâs his deal, anyway? He clearly doesnât like you, yet he wonât let 1. go. Donât tell me heâs doing this to get back at you? If thatâs the case, itâs downright twisted.â
Elysia was just as baffied as to why Tarquin refused to grant her a divorce.
