Chapter 1104
Always Been Yours
Chapter 1104 A Protective Nicholas Amber immediately stopped wailing as though someone was choking her throat. Was she stunned by Nicholasâ atrocious words or the ferocious aura seeping from him? No one knew.
Her glazing eyes fixated on him as horror swallowed her wholeâshe recognized who Nicholas was! My son went belly-up because of this very man!
He watched every nuance in her expression and snorted. A typical cowardly old haggard.
âSince you donât have the guts to jump off the building, stay and receive the treatment as youâre told.
Canât you appreciate Tessaâs willingness to look after you? Know your place and stop the antics.â
His words tampered with Amberâs ego, hence her instinctive retort. âI am her grandmother!â
âGrandmother?â He sneered. âSays who?â
Amber was going to retort to that, but the moment she met Nicholasâ steely eyes, she dared not utter a word.
Ignoring her scrunched-up face, he continued, âThink about your âfilialâ son. All because of money, he abandoned the family. He didnât even look after you. In the end, the two kidsâwhom you guys have forsakenâare taking care of you. Someone like you should live obediently and wait for death to come.
Your existence now is only harming them. If you canât stay low-profile and shut up about Tessa, donât blame me for whatâs about to come.â
At that, Nicholas wheeled around and left, after which the doctor in charge quickly followed suit.
âPresident Sawyer, I donât think you should be doing that to her.â
He looked back at the patient room, worried that Amber might really jump off the building as Nicholas had instructed.
Noticing the agony in the doctorâs voice, Nicholas mocked, âWhy would a selfish person kill herself? If she had the heart to do so, she wouldnât have asked you to contact my wife.â
In the evening, Tessa heard the engine sound coming from the yard. Knowing that it was Nicholas, she rose to her feet to welcome him home.
He gazed at his wife standing by the door. As his cold expression softened, he strode over toward her.
âWhat are you doing out here?â he questioned while holding her arms sweetly.
The corner of her lips curled upward to reveal a bright smile on her face. âI heard the car, so I figured that it was you. I just wanna welcome you back.â
His heart melted at that. The couple walked to the living room and sat on the couch before Tessa inquired about what had happened at the hospital. âSo, howâs Grandma doing?â
âIâve settled it. She wonât cause a ruckus anymore in the future.â Nicholas briefed Tessa on the incident that happened at the hospital.
She nodded, but at the thought of the injured maid, she asked, âIs Mia alright?â
âThey bandaged her wounds by the time I got there, so I asked her to get some rest at home and compensated her,â he told her honestly.
Tessaâs heart sank, and a smidgen of guilt surged in her. Then, she stared at Nicholas apologetically.
âSorry for making you worried with such a matter.â
He was displeased by that. âWhy are you apologizing to me?â
âIââ She barely uttered a word, yet Nicholas interrupted her. With a solemn countenance, he pulled her hand. âNo matter what it is, donât be such a stranger in front of me. We are husband and wife. Isnât it normal for us to bear everything together?â
What else could Tessa say to that? Feeling the warmth that was as sweet as honey embosoming her heart, she could only nod to his statement.
Back then, she had to face everything on her own, hence the habit to deal with everything single-
handedly; however, things were different now. There would always be someone whom she could rely and share the burden with.
âDarling, youâre the best.â She could not help the urge to link onto his arms.
After the short wholesome conversation, Nicholas scanned the silent living room in doubt. âWhereâs Greg?â
âOh, I almost forgot. Dad and Mom invited us for dinner at Sawyer Residence. I wanted to wait for you, so they brought Greg along earlier.â
