Chapter 382
Always Been Yours
Tessa wanted to hide in a hole. âNicholas!â She gritted her teeth angrily.
Whoops. Sheâs angry. Gotta distract her. He put on his puppy pout. âIâm hungry.â He had come over right after he disembarked, so he hadnât gotten any food. After the earlier exercise, his stomach was already growling Tessa paused. She had never seen him putting on a puppy pout. In the end, she couldnât let him starve, so she got out of bed. âIâll make something for you.â
Nicholas looked at her, and a smile curled his face. He wore his clothes and went out with her. Ti was making something in the kitchen, and Nicholas felt happy seeing her like that. It felt like home.
Tessa was done cooking in half an hour. She made a simple ramen, but it smelled great. She served it on the table and asked Nicholas to come over.
They sat across from each other, the light casting their shadows on the wall. When they were done with supper, Tessa stacked the dishes before her and looked at Nicholas. âHow long are you staying?â
Nicholas answered honestly, âOne day. Iâll have to leave after tomorrow.â
Tessa was visibly disappointed.
Nicholas didnât want to leave her, but he had no choice. He explained, âI canceled some work for this trip. Thatâs why I donât have much time. Iâll make sure I free up more of my schedule next time.â
Tessa was surprised that he canceled work just to see her. She felt guilty, but also touched. âIâm fine.
You donât have to come all the way to Vienna.â
âI know, but I donât want to leave you unhappy.â He looked at her, his gaze serious. For some reason, ever since they got together, he couldnât ever leave Tessa unhappy, nor would he let her cry. Every time she did, it felt like someone was stabbing his heart.
Their eyes met, and Tessa fell into his gentle gaze. She felt touched that Nicholas was so thoughtful when it came to her.
They sat together on the couch after dinner and had a long chat. Most of the time, Tessa was the one who talked. She talked about the things that happened in her orchestra and also the interesting stuff she saw when she was out with Hathaway.
Nicholas was a good listener. He seldom spoke, but he wouldnât let Tessa feel like she was the only one who was talking. A lot of times, he could come to great conclusions.
âI wish time could go slower.â Tessa looked at the clock on the wall, and she sighed.
Nicholas knew she didnât want him to leave, and he smiled. âWe have a lot of time ahead of us. You donât have to feel down because of this.â
Tessa nodded. She knew that, but she just didnât want to say goodbye. She used to be an independent girl, but ever since she got into a relationship, she started getting dependent on Nicholas, Nicholas noticed that she was still looking sad, and he scraped her nose. âItâs alright. Donât be sad. Iâll come over whenever I have time.â
Tessa felt comforted. She held his hand and smiled sweetly. âRemember to bring Greg along with you.
Heâs probably going to complain to me tomorrow, and I bet heâll argue with you once you get back.â
Tessa smiled as she was reminded of Gregoryâs antics.
Nicholas didnât really care. âItâs alright. He doesnât know Iâm here.â
Tessa blinked, and she realized what he was getting at. Oh, so he lied to the boy again. She asked curiously, âHow did you manage to hoodwink him this time?â
âI told him I was going on a business trip.â
