Chapter 744 Tessa Is Pregnant On the other hand, Tessa knew the reason why Nicholas was doing this after hearing what he said—he didn’t want his family to attack her.

However, she felt that she should stay with him to face this together. “I’m not leaving,” she said seriously and looked at him with determination. “I’m staying here with you.”

Although Nicholas was moved by her words, he still didn’t agree to it. The reason why he had asked her to leave was that he knew his family too well. She would only get hurt if she stayed with him.

In the end, Tessa couldn’t defy him and left with Timothy with worry written all over her face.

When he noticed how worried she was, Timothy comforted her by saying, “Don’t worry. Since Nicholas has chosen to stay, he definitely has a way to deal with them. You should trust him. With Greg staying there with him, it’ll be fine.”

“Nicholas Sawyer! Do you see yourself as the helm of our family at all?! Do you know that your marriage would bring about serious impact from different aspects?!” bellowed a furious Remus while hitting the ground with the cane in his hand to express his anger.

As he watched the scene unfold from the side, Kieran felt anxious for Nicholas. Just as he was thinking about a way to soothe the scene, Nicholas’ calm voice resonated in his ears.

“I don’t think that my marriage has anything to do with our family’s interests. Also…” Nicholas paused on purpose to look at his enraged parents and grandfather. He then said calmly, “Even if all of you are here, nothing can be changed since it’s a done deal. I’ve already signed the marriage certificate. Also, Tessa is pregnant.”

As soon as he said that, the room fell into a pin-drop silence as though someone had choked them by the throat.

Remus held his breath and put on a ghastly expression on his face, whereas Tobias and Stefania were frozen from the shock. They knew that Nicholas was married, but they didn’t know that Tessa was pregnant.

“Is she really pregnant?” Stefania asked again in disbelief. She thought that it was just an excuse from him to let them agree to his marriage.

Of course, Nicholas knew his mother’s intention for asking the question. He answered calmly, “Do I look like I’m joking?”

As soon as she heard that, Stefania was at a loss for words and glared at him in fury.

On the other hand, Tobias got his senses back and looked at Nicholas seriously before asking, “You married her because of the baby?”

“No.” Nicholas denied it without a second thought. “I married her because I love her, and I want to give her proper status. It has nothing to do with the baby.”
