Chapter 25 Gossip About Lin Qing

When he was only 0.1 mm from Lin Qing, Mu Li stopped. His gaze was deep.

Lin Qing’s breathing was light, and she felt butterflies in her stomach.

She tried to hold her breath while Mu Li was approaching, she stared at Mu Li and forgot to blink her eyes.

“Why are you so nervous? Didn’t you say that you believed me?” asked Mu Li in a low, mature and sexy voice.

“Yes, I do believe you,” Lin Qing was kind of irritated, “but … you are too close to me.”

That accounted for it.

Mu Li found Lin Qing’s nervous reaction amusing. He only intended to play with her and right now, he would by no means force her to do anything against her will.

However, he was indeed tempted by Lin Qing’s words for an instant.

Few could tempt him.

There were even fewer woman like Lin Qing, who lay on his bed but did not seduce him. Instead, she said she trusted him.

If Lin Qing accepted or resisted him a moment ago, Mu Li might continue to tease her. But her honesty and frankness extinguished the lust in Mu Li.

Mu Li rolled back to his previous position and laughed. He opened his mouth as if he was talking to himself, “Who exactly are you?”

Hearing his words, Lin Qing rose abruptly from the bed with half of her body exposed and said, “I’m Lin Qing.”

When Mu Li recalled that peaceful night after a few years, he always felt a sense of loss. He knew that he had lost Lin Qing, whose eyes were clear and calm that year.

Perhaps when fate came, it would be useless for anyone to block it.

But now Mu Li only found her answer kind of funny.

“I’ll drive you to work tomorrow,” Mu Li said after quite a while.

Lin Qing hid under the sheet again, revealing her small head and propping up her ears.

“Okay,” she accepted his offer very naturally.

Her natural and unaffected response made Mu Li realize something.

Lin Qing did not mind his offer at all. Mu Li could not get the answer he wanted from her at all.

Or maybe he had misunderstood her?

The next day, Mu Li drove Lin Qing to work as agreed. An interesting thing happened after Lin Qing arrived at the company.

The red sports car stopped in front of the office building again and Lin Qing, who was picked up by the car yesterday, got off from it. This became a piece of breaking news among the female colleagues of Lin Qing. They were curiously discussing the relationship between Mu Li, the army commander, and Lin Qing, an unknown common office lady.

“She does have something. Normally, she is quiet and doesn’t talk. But who would expect that she has seduced the honorable Army Commander Mu. She really thought that she could fly up the branch and turn from a sparrow into a phoenix!”

“Commander Mu is not the type to be easily fooled. I think we had better inquire about this matter clearly first.”

“That makes sense. There’s nothing special about her. How could Commander Mu be interested in her?”

Which woman doesn’t want to be spoiled by a handsome and proud army commander? Power, social rank, status, and wealth all have a strong temptation.

Soon, acrid gossips went viral in the office building.

In no more than one hour, Lin Qing turned into to the most popular topic from an ordinary office lady. Employees with no tasks at hand would gossip about Lin Qing whenever they gather together.

The staff lounge was the noisiest.

Lin Qing’s tasks today were easy. She soon finished her work even at her usual pace. Therefore, she wanted to go to the staff lounge and drink some water.

She happened to hear her name before opening the door of the staff lounge.

“As far as I know, Lin Qing went back home with Commander Mu and stayed there for the night. There must be something between them,” an unfamiliar voice said.

“Went back home? That cannot be possible. Are you sure?” Another voice questioned discontentedly.

“Yes,” answered the first voice. “Besides, Commander Mu drove Lin Qing to the company this morning. This was a sign that Command Mu was probably entranced by this woman…”

The voice suddenly stopped. The speaker stared at the door with a frozen expression.

Lin Qing stood by the door, with a mug in her hand.

She was getting boiling water into her mug.

The rest of them felt something weird and looked over their back, only to see Lin Qing whom they had been gossiping about for so long took a cup of boiling water calmly.

Obviously, Lin Qing didn’t sense the anxious stare and intended to step out of the staff lounge.

“Wait!”

A bold woman employee stood up and stood aggressively in front of Lin Qing to block her way.

“Lin Qing, what’s your relationship with Commander Mu?” The woman asked arrogantly.

“Me? With whom?” Lin Qing raised her head slowly and asked with puzzlement.

“Don’t play the fool. I saw you getting off from the car of Commander Mu!” The woman looked like she had caught adultery on the spot.

“Oh?” Lin Qing tilted her head and didn’t quite understand. “Are you talking about Mu Li?”

“Cut the crap!” The woman was irritated by Lin Qing’s casual attitude. “Tell us quickly how you seduced Commander Mu. You even dared to let him drive you to work!”

“I didn’t seduce him.” Lin Qing answered calmly, holding the mug in her hand. There was not the slightest trace of anger in her voice. “We got married. That’s why he drove me to work.”

…Married?

Married!

A complete silence fell into the staff lounge.

The woman sneered and questioned Lin Qing, “Come on, Lin Qing. Try some other convincing tricks. Married? Haha! Are you killing me with your funny joke?”

Lin Qing said seriously, “Well, do you want to see our marriage certificate?”

Her attitude was so sincere and her tone was so real that one had to calculate how credible this sentence was.

The rest of the people in the lounge thought that if Lin Qing was really married with Commander Mu and Commander Mu knew that they were bullying Lin Qing like this, something big would happen.

One of the female employee had the quickest brain and spoke while the others were still shocked, “Well, Lin Qing. Don’t bother. You must be in close relationship with Commander Mu since he picked you up and sent you to work. We are sorry to make such a fuss before figuring things out.”

“Well… Can I leave now?” Lin Qing hesitated for a moment and asked, as if she was receiving a reprimand.

“Wait…” The first woman still wanted to pull Lin Qing, but she was stopped by others.

“Stop it. What if what she said was true? Then that would be the end of you.” After being reminded by other colleagues, the woman let Lin Qing leave reluctantly.

About half a minute after Lin Qing left, a division head appeared among the employees who were still in the staff lounge.

“Ms. Zheng,” they greeted the head.

Ms. Zheng cast a cold glance at the employees in the staff lounge.

“I have no objection if you want to embarrass Lin Qing. But I want to warn you that she is the wife of Commander Mu. If you want to make a scene, please do that outside the company. Don’t hurt the reputation of our company. Understood?”

The employees were stunned.

“Yes,” they mumbled timidly.

Back in her seat, Lin Qing had already forgotten about this matter. If Mu Li did not mention it once in the future, she probably wouldn’t recall it.

At noon, Mu Li texted Lin Qing, explaining that he was occupied and would pick her up a bit later in the afternoon.

But Lin Qing misunderstood his message as “I would be busy in the afternoon. Go back home by yourself.”

Lin Qing felt much relieved after reading the text message.

It was almost time to get off work. Lin Qing began to pack her things. Although she didn’t know many people in the company, there were still a few who maintained a good relationship with her. At this moment, they moved to her seat.

“Lin Qing, we have a party tonight. Will you join us?” asked Lu Xiao, who had frequent contacts during work with Lin Qing.

Lin Qing shook her head because she never took part in these activities.

“We’re all people from the same company. Go with us. You don’t usually show up, and you have become much estranged with us.” Lu Xiao’s voice was full of emotions, but these words sounded a bit fake.

Lin Qing thought for a while and finally agreed.

Lu Xiao chatted with Lin Qing on their way to the destination. Lin Qing responded absent-mindedly.

Lu Xiao said that they were going to the restaurant for a party. However, when they arrived at the place, Lin Qing discovered that the car was parked at the entrance of a very famous club.

Lin Qing had heard of the bad reputation of the club.

“Let’s go.” After getting off the car, Lu Xiao walked towards the gate holding Lin Qing by the arm.

Lin Qing glanced at the logo of the club before entering.

She felt that no one would notice her after they were enjoying themselves to the full, and it was not too late for her to leave by then. She shouldn’t disappoint them by leaving right now.

However, Lin Qing didn’t expect that this gathering was entirely held with she herself being the protagonist.

The good thing was that Lu Xiao didn’t lie to her. All participants were her colleagues.

After realizing that she could not leave early, Lin Qing found a corner to sit down. After performing the basic social etiquette, the colleagues began to enjoy themselves in their own way as usual.

Lu Xiao was quite attentive and she stayed with Lin Qing all the time, trying to prevent Lin Qing from leaving early on one hand and to impress Lin Qing on the other.

However, Lu Xiao ignored one point. Lin Qing was not the type of person who would easily discover someone by her side.

Thus, throughout the entire process during which Lu Xiao stayed around Lin Qing, Lin Qing did not notice her existence. Instead, she was lost in her own thoughts.

After realizing this fact, Lu Xiao was disappointed. But she decided to give it another try.

She sat beside Lin Qing, feeling a little drunk after drinking a few glasses of wine.

“Lin Qing, you are awesome,” Lu Xiao looked at Lin Qing closely, but her vision had become blurred.

“Lu Xiao, you seem to be drunk.” Lin Qing smelled the wine on Lu Xiao’s body and reminded her.

“It’s OK. Don’t worry about me.” Lu Xiao’s action showed she was somewhat drunk. She then pointed at Lin Qing and said, “It’s you. Why don’t you drink and just sit here all the time?”

Lin Qing felt kind of embarrassed. She bit her lips and said, “I don’t drink much and would get drunk easily.”

She thought that she didn’t forget the lesson she had learnt.

Not content, Lu Xiao hung her arm on Lin Qing’s shoulder and asked, “Then are you waiting for Mu Li?”

“What?” Lin Qing was stunned.

“Aren’t you his wife? Aren’t you waiting for him to pick you up?” Lu Xiao continued asking.

“No, I’m not,” Lin Qing shook her head.
