Boris turned to her. “Caroline, you’re comfortable with this, right?”

“No problem,” she answered.

As they spoke, the conference room door suddenly swung open.

William stood at the entrance, holding the door with one hand while gesturing with the other. “Mr. Ellison.”

David strolled in at an unhurried pace, one hand tucked into his slacks, exuding a calm confidence that instantly shifted the room’s atmosphere.

He seemed casual. Everyone else? Not so much.

The tension in the room was instant. Even Boris and Caroline stiffened slightly. What was Mr. Ellison doing hereagain?

“I was outside the door just now,” David said nonchalantly, “and I’m pretty sure I heard my name. That wasn’t just my imagination, was it?”

Boris, unfazed as always, gave him a knowing look. “Mr. Ellison, another unexpected visit? You really enjoy dropping in on us.”

David had no reason to be at this meeting–just like he had no reason to show up at the last celebration banquet.

Now, here he was again.

So yeah, Boris had every reason to be a little sarcastic.

David didn’t seem to mind. His gaze swept across the room, his presence commanding.

The entire conference room was dead silent.

Sensing the shift, William quickly pulled out a chair. “Mr. Ellison, please have a seat.”

“Carry on as if I’m not here,” David said lazily, settling into the chair and idly tapping his fingers against the table. “I just happened to pass by and figured I’d listen in. The R&D department has been performing exceptionally well these past two months–impressive progress, strong results. I’m quite satisfied.”

Act like he wasn’t here?

Easier said than done. With him in the room, there was no ignoring his presence.

David arched a brow. “So that means I’m wrong?”

“Mr. Ellison is also right,” she answered without missing a beat.

Boris wrapped up the meeting agenda and announced, “Alright, that’s it. Meeting adjourned.”

As soon as the meeting adjourned, everyone wasted no time making their exit, slipping out as quickly as possible.
