Kiara
All my life, I never thought I'd be married in such a way, but here I am, sitting in Neil's house, at his dining table waiting for him.
Neil!
ohh, I never thought I'd be shifting to a first-name basis so fast.
But I guess everything in my life is just happening fast.
As I was drowning in my thoughts, I heard Mrs. Khurana say,
"Here he is, my dear son, Neil." She said, as Neil descended the stairs.
Oh, so cinematic.
"Mom, don't you think it's a little too much?" I heard Sid whisper audibly to Mrs. Khurana, getting a light hit on his arm in return.
"Hey everyone." Neil said as soon as he reached the table, giving everyone a warm smile.
"He--" I started, but was cut off by my father.
"So, you're going to be my son-in-law, hmm, nice, my daughter has made a good choice, I must say." my father said, eyeing him, head to toe.
"Let's talk to him first and then decide; you know right, never judge a book by its cover." Mom said and when I saw Neil's surprised expression, I bit my inner cheek to stop myself from laughing.
"Chill, dude, relax. My mom's joking." I said to him, seeing him stunned and sad.
"Oh, thank God! I was so scared; I thought you all didn't like my son!" Mrs. Khurana said, taking a relieved sigh.
"Oh, Mrs. Khurana, I think you should get used to my jokes; after all, we're future in-laws." My mother said, resulting in a hi-fi between the two moms,
I think these two are definitely going to like each other's company.
"Disha, let's talk about the rest of the details over dinner." Mr. Khurana said, and Mrs. Khurana agreed.
"Yes, that will be great, Harsh. You talk to Kiara and her parents till I start arranging and serving dinner." Mrs. Khurana said while getting up from her chair and going to the kitchen.
"Mrs. Khurana, shall I help you?" I asked as she was going to do the work alone, but as soon as I said this, I see all the faces in my direction, including Mrs. Khurana's face, which shows adoration and a little anger.
"No, there's no need to help me." Mrs. Khurana said harshly, shocking us all.
"Disha, what happened?" Mr. Khurana says, out of concern
"Did I do something?" I asked her, feeling suddenly very cautious about my words.
"Who else, now that you know that you are going to be my daughter-in-law, still you are talking to me formally; what is this Mrs. Khurana? call me Mom and Harsh as Dad. Ok?" Mrs. Khurana says, her voice rising at first and then softening at the end.
"Oh, Mrs. Khurana, you scared us." Mom said with relief.
"And you also may please call me by my first name, Disha. Mrs Khurana just feels like we are strangers to each other" Mrs. Khu-- Mom explained.
I just now need to learn to tell my mind to call her mom.
"Ohk, so what I was saying, yes, Mrs. Disha, you scared us." Mumma said.
"Still, it's formal, but fine." replied Mom.
"Disha, could we please talk about the rest while we eat?" Dad said, literally pressurising that we eat right now.
"What happened, Mr. Harsh? Did Mrs. Khurana not give you food today?" My father said playfully.
"Wait, how did you know?" dad exclaimed, making us all laugh at his surprise and Mom's enraged expression.
"Seriously, Mrs. Disha?" Mum was taken aback.
"I agree that I didn't give him food, but it's because of that boy at the back." Mom said, pointing towards Neil, making us all turn our heads towards him.
"What have I done?" Neil replied, quite shocked.
"Hey, I am going to tell you this!" Sid said, pointing his finger towards himself.
"Okay" said all the parents together, resulting in them laughing.
"So, because my big brother just told us yesterday that you all are coming to visit today, Mum got stressed out, and we decided that, they will clean the house" (pointing to Neil and their father) while I and mom did the shopping, so while returning we ate our lunch; we thought they would've ordered for themselves, but they didn't, and that's how they ended up starving." Sid said, smiling, at the end of his whole answer.
He and Prisha definitely complement each other.
"So, I guess, Mrs. Disha, that we should have food first." Mumma suggested.
"And let me assist you with the arranging and serving." Mum added.
"Oh, that would be great Mrs. Priya, why don't you show Kiara around and let these fathers sit and talk until then?" Mom said, and I nodded.
"Yes, that would be great." Neil replied.
We were about to disperse when we heard Sid yell.
"And what about me?" he asked.
"You come and help us." Mom replied.

Neil
So finally, I am on track to getting married to Kiara.
Goddamn, her name's just so beautiful.
We're currently walking around the path in my house that leads to the garden.
"Hey, so finally, we are getting married! How does it feel?" Kiara asked me joyfully.
"It feels nice, but I'm still not able to believe I'm getting married." I said.
"Me too." she replied.
And we both fell silent again until we entered the garden, where the first thing I hear Kiara say is, "wow, this place is so amazing; look at the stars!"Â She exclaimed, pointing towards the stars that were making some patterns.
"Hmm, they are amazing. Do you like gazing at stars?" I asked out of curiosity as it is something I love.
"No, I mean, I like stars, but I am a sort of moongazer because I feel there are just too many to stare at." she replied.
How can someone be this unique?
"Great, I am a stargazer; I love looking at stars; they provide me great comfort." I replied in the flow of the moment while feeling the air and watching the stars.
"Hmm, nice, the moon does it for me. Let's sit and talk," she said, and as I was about to proceed towards the chair, she sat on the ground filled with grass.
She loves giving surprises, I guess.
I was about to tell her to come and sit on the bench, but she just looked very excited about the fact that she was sitting on the grass and watching the stars, and since I did not want to make her excitement vanish, even I sat down.
We were both seated, and then I decided to ask her a question that has been disturbing me for a long time.
"Kiara, can I ask you a question?" I asked.
"Oh, yes, sure, anyway, we were sent to talk only; go ahead." she replied.
"So Kiaraâ" I started.
"mm-hmm"
"I wanted to ask why you agreed to get married to me." I asked and felt a sense of relief after asking the question, and I was waiting for a reply when she asked
"Why did you agree to marry me?" She asked, countering the question.
"I guess you know the answer," I said.
"Sure, I know, but I want to hear it again." She said, her eyes now focussed on me.
"I agreed to get married to you for my brother." I said with an obvious expression.
"And I agreed to get married to you for my best friend." she replied.
"Why would anyone do something like that, like agreeing to marry someone for the sake of their best friend?" I questioned with genuine curiosity.
"You agreed because of your brother. Why?" she asked me.
this girl and her counterquestions!
"Because he's my family, I love him; he means everything to me, but that's another story; why did you agree to marry me? "I said, I was getting a little annoyed at her for not giving answers to my question.
"Same reason because my best friend means the world to me," she responded softly.
"But you aren't blood related; how can you have such a deep relationship?" I could not help but ask since I never had anyone in my life except my family who would mean so much to me.
"Because some non-blood related relations are greater than blood related relations." she replied and I see a teardrop falling from her eye, which she wiped quickly, probably hoping I wouldn't notice
"But how?" I still asked, because never in the world have I developed any such relationship with anyone.
"That's a long story, some other day." she replied.
and then we both went silent while staring at the dark night sky, with me staring at the stars and her, I guess, at the moon.
We were both engulfed in a very comfortable silence, lost in the sky, or, to put it another way, lost in our thoughts.
That's when we heard Sid's voice.
"Oh my dear love birds, do the remaining topic later on." He yelled, and we both just looked at each other and laughed, thinking about his lack of knowledge about the truth of our marriage.
"Yes, Sid, we're on our way." Kiara got up, and then I did, and we all entered the hall, catching sight of our parents laughing and enjoying themselves, when dad noticed us and said, "I'm so glad you guys are here."
"See, these two are here; come fast, or I am going to finish off the food," he said, and we all laughed while we went towards the dining table.
