Chapter 6

Marriage Contract or a Love Proposal | ✔

Kiara

"What?" I heard Sid literally shouting.

"Sid, are you okay? Do you need something? Why did you shout so loudly? What happened? Are you all right?" Prisha immediately asked with a worried tone.

And here goes the concerned, loving girlfriend.

"Yes, Sid, tell us what happened, or your girl will just get hyper and increase her blood pressure." I said, very well knowing how Prisha is.

"Actually, Kiara, I guess the Neil Khurana you went on a date with is my brother." he said, causing me to suddenly click something in my mind before saying,

"No, no, this can't be true; according to me, your last name is... Prishu, what's his last name?" I asked her.

"It's Khurana, Kia, but I don't think my parents will arrange my date with your brother like you're my boyfriend; how can I be on a date with your brother?" Prisha said in a very factual type tone.

I suppose this girl requires a flashback to today.

"Prishu Just to remind you, your parents don't know about Sid; you only told me this in the morning. Right?" I said and she took a sudden pause.

"Oh shit, why am I so stupid?" and now she started crying.

This girl and her emotions.

"Prisha, see, nothing happened. He was just my brother who went on a date with a random stranger, so what's the big issue?" Sid said, trying to calm her down.

Oh, the caring boyfriend,

I wish I had one.

Nope.

You don't wish.

"You don't understand, Sid." she said, getting really sad.

"So you tell me what's the problem?" He asked.

"The problem is that now, according to your parents, I am the one who rejected their elder son, and by any chance, if he even tells the truth that I switched places with my friend, your parents would think I'm never serious about anything, and they will never make you marry me." Prisha said and I realised that is actually the case.

"I think she has a point, Sid." I agreed with her.

"I know that, Kiara, but there's nothing now that we can do except wait for another 4–5 months till my parents forget all the date situation or my brother gets married, and honestly speaking, both options are quite difficult." he said with a very tired expression.

"Why do you say so?" I asked with confusion.

"Because after many thoughts and arguments with his own mind, he'd decided he'd say yes to whoever comes as his blind date, and today I came to tell Prisha that I guess we can talk to our parents and take things further." He informed us.

"Uh-oh, so do you mean to, by any chance, say that I kind of made all your chances to marry vanish in minutes?" I replied with a little hesitation.

"Hmm, and secondly, even if my parents forget about the date, they won't marry me before bro, because they know that just because I'm to marry next, he'll marry someone, or marriage is a big no for him."

"Uff, why's your brother so complicated, Sid?" I said clearly bumped about the way things are turning out.

But suddenly a thought popped up in my brain.

"But why are we getting stressed? We're not still sure right now that the one I went on a date with is your brother." I said, hoping it would be true

"Oh yes, Sid, we're not sure right now; hopefully he's not your brother, I guess." Prisha said, gathering a little hope.

Finally, my sweetie is smiling.

"It can be, but chances are low since he also went on a date today and had this mutual calling the date kind of thing." Sid said.

"Let's pray for this, but how do we confirm... oh yes, I clicked a selfie with him, and I hope it just gives us the results we want." I said, feeling really thankful, that I clicked a picture.

As I was unlocking my mobile, I heard Prisha,

"Do you mean to say that you went on a date at my place, told him the truth, called the date off, and still clicked a selfie with him?" She inquired, her tone questioning.

"Yes, obviously, I wanted to just keep it as a weird memory with me, but see, it's the only thing that's going to help us now." I said.

"Here." I say as I forward the mobile with the selfie opened to Sid.

Uh oh, the look on his face says everything. His face right now is pale, and his eyes are just on me and Prisha, confirming that it's his brother.

"It's him!" Sid said, and ran his palm over his hair, in frustration.

"Oh shit," Prishu and I both say at the same time.

"What are we supposed to do now?"

As I say this and look towards Prisha, all I see is mischief  in her eyes.

What is she going to do now?'

"I guess I know the solution to our problem, Sid." She said, her eyes not leaving mine, even for a minute.

"If this solution of yours includes me, Prishu, then don't even say it!" I literally commanded.

"How do you know that it includes you?" she questioned.

I knew it.

"Simple. If the great Prisha Singhania has any solution to a problem, then the scapegoat has to be Kiara Mehra, and that is me." I said, shrugging my shoulders, like it's no big deal.

"You two best friends, please leave your banter or whatever you are doing aside, and Prishu, you tell your solution." Sid said impatiently.

"So Kiara, since one day or the other you have to marry and since you're guilty of ruining our chances of marriage, would you like to marry Neil and become the person we'll be thankful to for getting us married?" she said, giving a hopeful smile.

'What? Hell no, I'm not just marrying anyone like that; I don't even know a thing about him." I said, clearly shocked by the weird demand.

"Please Kiara, this is the only way out. Please think about it. Let's go, Sid." she said and they both went away.

two days later

"Kiara, dear, what's the harm in marrying him? He's nice at heart; he's sweet and friendly, and good for you." My mom said, pestering me.

"Yes, Kia, your mom is right." Dad agreed with her.

"What's happened to you both? Why are you hell-bent on making me marry him? You don't even know him; even his name was told to you both by Prisha. Why do you like my best friend so much that you're agreeing to marry her and not me?" I yelled in frustration.

trring trring

I swear, if it's Prisha, she's going to have the worst earful ever.

"Hello, who's there?" I asked, picking up.

"Hello, Ms. Mehra. It's me, Neil Khurana." The voice on the other side said:

"OK, Hello, Mr. Khurana? Why did you call me? And how do you have my number?" I questioned. everything at once

"Ms. Mehra, let's get married."
