Chapter 7
Marriage Contract or a Love Proposal | ✔
Third-person POV
"What?" Kiara yelled so angrily that her parents became concerned for her, and as they were about to approach her, she rushed into her bedroom and shut the door.
"Are you crazy? Mr. Khurana, do you even know what you are saying?" Kiara asked frustratedly.
"I know what I'm saying, Ms. Mehra; I want us to get married." Neil replied a bit clearly.
"We just met once ,how can you decide that we'll get married? And how did you even get my number?" Kiara spoke up, her voice rising with each word.
"If you forgot, let me remind you that my brother is your best friend's boyfriend." Neil replied, calm as ever.
"See Mr. Khurana ,about these relationships, I said to you even the day we met, I don't want to marry you. Then why are you behind me regarding it?" She said, roaming around the room, with anxiousness.
"I guess I'll not be able to speak on the phone, Ms. Mehra, so can you please meet me somewhere outside? I'll even give you the right to choose the place we meet." Neil said, trying to act gentlemanly.
"Wow, wow, wow. Thank you so much for your offer, Mr. Khurana," Kiara said sarcastically.
"Do you really think I'll be able to think anything right now after causing me so much confusion? "Kiara replied again with annoyance.
"So shall I tell you the place we should meet?"
"If I'm not going to think about it, obviously you have to tell, and as far as I can tell, you might have decided as well, except that you pulled a very strange stunt to show how much of a gentleman you are after nearly giving me a heart attack." Kiara said, with a obvious tone.
"Oh my, my! My future wife already knows me so well," Neil exclaimed, playfully.
"I am not your future wife, Mister; now tell me the place we should meet before I find the address of your house and change it to a hospital." She threatened.
"Oh, I'm scared." Neil said, faking a scare.
"Very funny"
"Ok, OK, enough of my time, let's meet at Indiano Cafe on the highway."
'Wait---"
"Bye"
The line was cut, leaving Kiara in a state of confusion.

Neil
Kiara, Kiara, Kiara.
This girl is just messing with my mind when two days ago my brother told me everything two days ago.
Two days earlier
"Bro, bro, bro!"Â I heard Sid call me.
"Yes, Sid, what happened? Despite feeling dejected due to the date situation, I ask him softly.
"I know what happened on your date." He said which caught me off gaurd.
Oh wait,
pause,
repeat,
I know he likes to spy, but how does he know?
"What?" I asked, surprised and shocked.
"Yes, I know that the girl you met was not supposed to be your date but rather her best friend." He started telling me, making me relive my whole date.
"And how do you know? Are you spying on me, Sid?" I question with a serious voice.
"No, bro, I'm not spying, it's just-" He started, but stopped.
"Come on, man, spit it out." I said impatiently.
"It's just the girl you met."
"Mm-hmm, say it as fast as you would know; I'm not very patient."
"The girl you met is the best friend of my girlfriend." He blurted out.
Wait, what's the connection here?
Oh wait,
I remember!
"So by any chance do you mean to say that your girlfriend was my supposed date?" I questioned, hoping I remember it right.
"Yes." he said, sadly.
but why?
"Ok, so my brain's just not responding, or are you actually sad?" I asked with confusion.
"I am actually sad." he said.
"But why shouldn't you be happy that I didn't go on a date with your girlfriend?" I questioned, because him being sad at the moment makes no sense.
"I am surely happy about that, but the thing is, now I cannot marry her," he informed.
"Why, did you break up with her or something?" I asked with confusion.
"No, bro, are you mad?" He was shouting a little.
"Then?"
"Actually, I never want to get married before you, and you promised that this is the last time you're trying your hand at marrying, and it alsoâ"
"Which century are you exactly living in, brother? I know you love me and want me to stay happy, so you are just blackmailing me to get married just for you, right?" I said, a little irritably.
"No, no, not like that, I truly want you to get married, and if you want, you can even marry Kiara, your date; you know, she's just perfect for you." he exclaimed.
"No, no, not she. She herself said she's not interested in getting married, so definitely not her." I told him.
"But bro, she is like the perfect match for you." he said again, stressing the perfect match.
"Sid, what happened? Why are you forcing me to marry her?" I asked, clearly noticing some background story here.
"Actually, because her parents and Prisha are also persuading her to marry you, and if you also kind of ask her for marriage, there are chances that she will agree and you can marry her." he said with hesitation, and I knew he was lying then and there.
"Will you care to tell the correct reason?"
"Uh-huh, actually, Prisha's parents will definitely reject my marriage proposal for her, as according to them, she was meant to marry you, so the only way I can marry her is if you marry Kiara, as Prisha's parents consider her as their second daughter, and they can accept that Kiara and you are married, so I and Prisha can marry." He told, and it feels, they've been planning this plot for months.
Yet, all the while I was thinking to myself, "When did he grow so much to make such big plans and all?"
"So the end result of our conversation is that you want me to marry Ki-- Ms. Mehra."
"Yes, please." he said in a childlike tone.

Present
And his please is the thing that has made me sit here and wait for Ms. Mehra to come.
As I came out of my thoughts, I saw Ms. Mehra approaching my table with a very angry look on her face.
"So Mr. Khurana, I never thought we'd meet again." she said with annoyance.
"Feelings are mutual, Ms. Mehra" I replied in the same tone.
"First, leave all this and tell me, what is this, your new Let's Get Married game?" She's really pissed about this thing, I guess.
"First of all, it's not a game. I truthfully asked you, can we get married?" I clearly said and she looked at me with confusion
"But why do you have to marry me?" She asked.
"So that your best friend and my brother can marry each other." I replied truthfully.
"So you want me to marry for the sake of my best friend, and you want me to marry for the sake of your brother." She reconfirmed.
"Yes, you got it right"
"Wait, I think you have lost your mind or something. Marriage is not a puppet show or a game that you get married for the sake of others." She said, clearly looking at me, as if I've lost my mind.
"I know butâand I told her everything that Sid said to me.
"Ohk..." she said, pausing to consider something.
"And just for our convenience, I decided that we'll have a marriage contract, in which it's mentioned that if you want, you can break this marriage whenever you want after six months of Sid and Prisha's marriage." I said, hoping it would make her easier to decide.
"Ok, I'm ready to marry you, Mr. Khurana." She said, after a minute.
"Are you sure?" I don't know why I asked her this, but it just felt required at the moment.
"Initially, I was going to say no, but this marriage contract is a great idea." She said truthfully.
"Thank you, thank you so much, Ms. Mehra, that you said yes, as I love my brother like anything and I always want him to be happy, and your saying yes just meant that he's going to be happy so much. Thank you." I said with happiness.
"It's not only about your brother but also about Prisha; I've seen the love in her eyes for Siddharth, and separating them was like a curse on me." She said, with a relieved expression.
"So, it's fixed that we are going to get married..."
"Surely--"
"With a marriage contract."Â we both said it together, which made us chuckle.
"Ok, Mr. Khurana, now what about the contract?" She questioned, straight to the point.
"We'll discuss it tomorrow; now let's enjoy a coffee on the occasion of our marriage getting fixed"
"Surely." She nodded, giving me a small smile.
