Chapter 950: One Punch, and We'd All Be Flying
Back to the Past: The Rise of the False Heiress Marrying the True Tycoon
Editor:Â EndlessFantasy Translation
The little cake that Su Li and Gao Ming had worked on was an uneven mess of frostingâlumpy, bumpy, and unmistakably amateur. Yet, somehow, its ugliness had a certain charm.
Su Li, however, didnât seem to mind in the least; he was beaming with pride.
Su Bing, on the other hand, couldnât take it anymore. He walked over, determined to rescue the poor cake. With calm precision, he smoothed out the frosting, his movements mirroring the careful techniques Gu Zi had demonstrated earlier. Then, with a steady hand, he piped delicate little flowers onto the surface. Under Su Bingâs skilled touch, the disfigured dessert transformed into a stunning floral cake.
Su Li wasted no time claiming credit. Parading the cake around like a trophy, he declared, âYou guys are still not done? Look at this floral cake Gao Ming and I made. Isnât it beautiful?â
Su Bing merely rolled his eyes as his younger brother brazenly boasted about his handiwork. Meanwhile, he continued guiding Da Hu, Er Hu, and Xiao Hu through the process of making their own cakes.
The other kids, who had been preoccupied following Gu Ziâs instructions, hadnât noticed Su Bingâs quiet intervention. They gazed at Su Liâs cake in awe, fully believing it was his creation.
âItâs no wonder youâre our leader, Su Li! Youâre always the fastest learner, even at making cakes,â one of them exclaimed in admiration. âCan you teach me how to make mine look like that? I didnât really get what the auntie was saying earlier.â
Su Li puffed out his chest, feigning the air of a seasoned expert. With Gao Ming playing along, he launched into an impromptu lesson, giving what seemed like genuine guidance. Under his direction, cakes that were once disastrous started to look halfway decent. The kids cheered, delighted by their progress, but this left Su Li and Gao Ming scratching their heads. How come their cakes turned out so nice when ours looked so terrible?
Not one to admit defeat, Su Li pulled Gao Ming aside, determined to try again.
The other children, too, were hooked. They became engrossed in their new hobby, alternating between nibbling on their creations and attempting to outdo one another.
Even the Hu brothers, initially shy and hesitant, slowly got swept up in the festive atmosphere, their earlier insecurities melting away. Laughter and the sounds of joyful chatter filled the courtyard.
Amid this lively chaos, Su Shen returned home. In his hands, he carried a gift for Su Liâa pair of imported sneakers.
Su Liâs face lit up with uncontainable excitement as he tore into the package. âGao Ming, letâs go try them on!â he yelled before dashing inside, abandoning his cake-making crusade entirely.
Su Shen stood in the doorway, his imposing figure momentarily silencing the crowd. The children gawked at him in awe, their chatter dying down as they took in his towering frame. Whispers spread like wildfire.
âWhoa⦠Is that Su Liâs dad?â
âHeâs huge! Look at his handsâone punch, and weâd all be flying!â
âOkay, no oneâs messing with Su Li ever again.â
Though bemused by the kidsâ reaction, Su Shen didnât linger. He made his way to the kitchen, where Gu Zi was busy chopping vegetables in preparation for dinner. The cakes were only the startâthere was a full banquet to come.
Without a word, Su Shen gently took the knife from her hands. His voice softened as he said, âJust like old timesâyou give the orders, and Iâll do the work.â
Gu Zi blinked, surprised to see him home so early. âWerenât you supposed to be busy?â she asked.
He sliced through the vegetables with practiced ease, replying, âItâs nothing that canât wait. Su Liâs birthday comes first. Iâm his fatherâit wouldnât be right to leave all the work to you.â
There was a pause before he added, almost as if speaking to himself, âI used to think as long as I earned enough, the kids would be fine. But Iâve realized thatâs not enough. They need more than just money. They need time, care, and a home filled with love.â
Gu Zi didnât respond, but the look in her eyes said everything. Together, with help from the housekeepers, they quickly whipped up an impressive array of dishes. Soon, the tables were groaning under the weight of culinary masterpiecesâdozens of plates, each more enticing than the last. The tantalizing aromas wafted through the courtyard, drawing everyone to the tables like moths to a flame.
Parents and children alike tucked in with gusto. Even the wealthier guests, accustomed to gourmet spreads, couldnât help but gush over the flavors.@@novelbin@@
âThis is incredible!â one woman exclaimed. âI wish I had a bigger stomachâIâm already full, and we havenât even started on the cake!â
âI know! What are we supposed to do with these gorgeous cakes if weâre too stuffed to eat them?â another chimed in, her tone equal parts regretful and amused.
Overhearing this, Gu Zi stood and smiled. âDonât worry about it,â she reassured them. âWe made plenty of extra cake so you can all take some home. Just pop it in your fridge, and itâll taste just as fresh tomorrow morning.â
