Chapter 25 ~ That’s Just Dumb

Kendrick’s POV ~

The pack took their run.. and the Goddesses left. Bella and I sipped a glass of wine, while we ate dinner. Everyone was arriving back, by the time we had finished, so I took my beautiful mate to the dance floor!

We danced… she danced with all the men in her family.. the we danced again! It was getting late, and Bella was adamant our first night be spent at our home, so we said our goodbyes and headed back to Harvest Moon.. in a convoy of five trucks.. four of which held our best warriors. Taking no chances!

We barely made it to our room, before we were all over each other. I undressed her.. and as her beautiful gown slipped down her luscious body, I forgot how to breathe. Standing in front of me, in the skimpiest lingerie on the planet is my very own Goddess! I slowly made love to my mate.. her body so responsive, I knew our first time wouldn’t last long. Vowing to take my time with her, I let myself give into the feelings.

Nothing…absolutely nothing.. I have ever read..done.. or watched, prepared me for the all-encompassing sensations and emotions that come from making love with your mate.. your destiny! I felt close to tears as the explosion of my orgasm rolled through me!

We made love all night.. and just before dawn, we let Angel and Brutus run. They played and hunted.. bounding through the forest. It was their first time together..and Bella and I drifted from their consciousness so they had their privacy. By their coupling.. our mating was complete.

Brutus led the way to the river, and they rested awhile.. he curled his huge body around her.. nearly hiding her from view. She’s a good sized wolf.. bit compared to Brut, she looks like a pup. They lay quietly.. enjoying their time.. Brutus lifts his head, scenting the air from the far side of the river.. He chuffs a warning to Angel.. I link her 🐺 stay hidden in Brutus’ fur.. We have company across the river. 🐺 Is it Ethan? Brutus chuffs again.. signalling an affirmative. I then link Jaxson to get warriors to the river.

As soon as Jaxson arrived, the warriors started running the riverbank.. scenting Ethan.. he was there.. Then gone. Just like that! We were getting ready to cross the river in the shallows, when a long howl went out…and we could tell it was far away. Fucker ran again!

We headed back to the Pack house, and I called Alexander’s office immediately. Blake answered.. since he gave Ella and Alex a few days off. Must be nice! I told him Ethan was here..across the river on my west border. Blake reminds me “He wasn’t on pack lands, Kendrick. You can’t just kill him.. you have to catch him, in the commission of a crime.” I sigh and reply “I know. I’m just frustrated. Bella doesn’t need this hanging over her head! She’s still reeling from the Goddess’s news!”

I hung up and summoned Jake to meet Jax and I in the office. Bella had gone to take a nap… and I will join her in a bit.. But, for now, I have to set a task for the guys. When Jake arrives and takes a seat, I jump right in “I want cameras all along the western borders.. that bastard was close enough to our Luna this morning to scent her…if Brutus hadn’t tucked her into his body and hid her.

Jake reminds me we had bought quite a few infrareds a month ago when we first stepped up security. He asks “What if we build tree stands that are high enough to see past the river to the treeline? They’d be good for launching drones, for that matter. I agreed and told them to get on it… I was going to nap with my Luna!

Bella’s POV ~

Waking up next to my mate is the best! He was holding me against him, and looked so peaceful. I lay there, with my head on his shoulder, facing his profile and just watched him sleep. Angel says 🐺 your face looks like that crazy cat lady in the apartment by university. 🐺 ohhh! That’s mean! Who pissed on your little ray of sunshine, Ms. Thundercloud? She chuckles in my head.

Kendrick growls “If you keep watching me like that, I will spend the entire day ravishing you!” I giggle “Promises, promises..” and I jump off the bed, running for the bathroom and he catches me before I make it.. We shower together for the very first time. And let me say.. Best Shower Ever!!

We walk into the dining hall.. and everyone was so welcoming. Saying hello and congratulating us. It warmed my heart. Jaxson comes in to let us know Jake needs us in the security center to check the angles of the new cameras. I look at Kendrick and he tells me “I ordered cameras along the river. So we can keep an eye out on the other side”

Makes sense! I suggest “What if I throw wards up at the riverbank? It won’t stop him.. but he would have to break the wards, and the sound of that will alert so loudly, Alex would hear it!” Kendrick grins “We need to get outside so you can practice your new powers.. you may set wards that summon demons!” Wait! What? “That was mean! Did you and Angel get up on the same side of the bed this morning!? Damned Grumpy Pants!” and I walk outside to locate the meadow.

Alexander tells him one little story and he thinks I can’t do anything right. Well.. let him think it! I will show him! As soon as I figure out what powers have come in..and what ones enhanced. I walk to the middle of the clearing.. I sit indian style on the grass.. and summon my powers. I place my palms flat on the earth, and feel her breathe. I close my eyes, and listen to her speak.

I begin simple.. I move rocks..summon vines and roots to rise…I shift the ground and make a huge wall around me in a circle. Okay.. that’s pretty cool! I let my wall slide back to the earth. Then I summon the wind. Bringing in the clouds, I build a huge thunderhead. I begin twirling it.. snapping lightning to the ground. Then I let go the rain…all around me, while I kept the meadow dry.

My powers are the same..enhanced by quite a lot. Once I am in my art studio upstairs, I will practice my spells. Maybe my locator spells will work now…and my portals! I will know more when I try, I guess!

I clear the sky, and turn to walk back to the pack house, when I spot Kendrick leaned against a tree…drenched to the bone. I busted out laughing “Why didn’t you step into the clearing where it was dry?” He shrugs “I thought you were still mad at me..so I was afraid to bother you!”

I grinned again “That’s just dumb!”
