Chapter 29 ~ I Know The Where

Well here I am.. again?.. or still.. Whatever. Third day without food.. My little sips of water aren’t enough and it’s taking its toll! I have heard the men arguing.. Ethan seems to believe not feeding me is going to cause me to break. The other guy.. and I know I have heard his voice.. keeps saying Granddaddy will kill them all and he better do whatever he’s planning, soon!

The girl came in the room just now. Sat a plate of food on the little table and spat out “Eat!” I laughed at her “Umm.. yeah.. Genius? I’m chained to the wall over Here! And you put the food Over There! Didn’t think this one through, did ya?”

She storms over at me, with her hand raised and I asked “Going for Two?” She slapped me anyway. This time, the cut above my eye busted open.. I say “Have I wronged you in a past life or something? For you to have such an obvious death wish in striking me.. makes me think this is personal for you!”

She screams “You stole the man who was going to mate ME!” Oh! Light Bulb moment! I smirk “So.. you’re Amber. Truth be told.. I stole nothing. Oh My Goddess! What the fuck is that smell?” I sniff again and fight the urge to hurl “It’s you! Damn, girl! Don’t they have soap here? Deodorant!? Body spray, even? You need something! You stink!”

She storms out the room.. leaving me laughing. At least, they have someone I can amuse myself with! Within a couple hours, the house was quiet.. apparently, it’s nighttime again. I ask Angel 🐺 Can we shift? I think we can slip these chains, if we can 🐺 We can try.. they haven’t done anything to us except restrict our magic.

We gave it another thirty minutes.. just to see if there was any noise. When there wasn’t she shifted.. swiftly and silently. Sure enough.. the shackles slipped off. I shifted back.. and my daggers glistened in the slight light. Fell out of my boots! Hah! Now.. I have a problem! I’m naked!! I start searching the drawers in the dresser.. I find a tee shirt and slip it on. My hands arms and legs are tingling.. so I know my magic is regenerating.

I immediately go to the plate of food and scarf it down.. It tasted horrible.. but I needed what little nourishment it would provide. I started searching for a way out.. then I discovered the wards. Ohh.. he thinks he’s a smart one! Pulling out a dagger.. I scratched through the runes on the window sill.. destroying them. I pry the window open and see I am on.. what looks like.. the second floor. There are bars over the window.. but there is a four inch gap between the bars and glass.

I leaned my head into that gap.. and immediately the fog in my brain lifted! I whisper into the link 🐺 Kendrick? Can you hear me? I don’t know how much time I have before I’m discovered.

I was just lying down, to quieten my mind and hopefully, sleep a couple hours before getting back at it. I feel a nudge in my head.. so I open the link, in case it’s important.. and My Angel speaks.. I respond 🐺 I hear you, baby. Do you know where you are? Who took you?? 🐺 Well, I have some good news..and some bad news. The good news is I know the Who.. the bad news is I don’t know the where! Ethan, Amber and another man are here. The men argue constantly about what to do with me. The other guy.. I know the voice.. Damn! Anyway, he keeps talking about Granddaddy going to kill him when he finds out! So, my guess is Granddaddy knows him. The where is a problem.. but, I know a way you can help 🐺 Anything, baby! What do you need? 🐺 Angel is going to summon Brutus.. you need to lie down and close your eyes. We’re going to let Brut see everything I can see.. and maybe something will look familiar.

I laid back and cleared my mind of everything but her. Closing my eyes.. I am suddenly looking at a small room. A mattress on the floor with chains on the wall.. a small dresser and a table. Then I am looking out of a two story window. Judging by the moon, I am looking west.. forest.. some lights in the distance indicate a pack. Towards the north.. it looks like a little community of some sort.. a huge parking lot with a ton of street lights. Wait a minute 🐺 Baby.. I think we’re looking at the university! I have a good idea where you might be! Is there anyway you can lay your scent down? 🐺 I had to shift to loose the chains. All my shredded clothes are here. I will throw the pieces out the window. I have on somebody’s tee shirt and my combat boots! I have turned into such a fashionista!”

I chuckle at that.. she’s either doing much better than I had dared hope.. or she’s putting on a good front! I jump out of bed and run through the house.. demanding everyone meet in the war room! I am impatient now! If she is by the university.. and the odds are pretty high that she is.. there is only three packs around it!

Alexander is the first to get there.. and I couldn’t stop my grin “Bro! She’s good! She linked me. She did this weird thing where she summoned Brutus to look through her eyes. She’s on the southwest side of the university.. in some two story cabin!”

The rest of them walked in and I repeated what she had told me, while Jake pulled up the map of the university and surrounding packs. And right there! To the south of the university.. sat Troy Calhoun’s pack!
