“Then what else are you up to?” Flora’s question felt off to Cora, making her feel like Flora didn’t want her to be there.

But Cora assumed it was due to Flora caring about the reason for the sudden visit to her ward because, after all, Flora was her mother.

She sniffed and tried to calm down as she replied, “Mom, I broke up...”
