Chapter 862
Snatched A Billionaire To Be My Husband by Shabi's pen
Chapter 862 Byronâs Fury Alton was clearly rattled by Roustonâs dire warnings but tried to remain defiant.
âDad, I donât believe he has the power to threaten our lives,â he argued.
But Rouston insisted, âBelieve it or not, we have to go to Efren and Georgia now, kneel and apologize, beg for mercy. Itâs our only chance of saving the family.â
âNow? But Iâm still injured!â Alton gasped, horrified.
Bandaged and anesthetized, he could barely walk.
The shame of exposing his mutilation tormented him too.
Yet Rouston scolded, âYou have no choice. Come with me!â
He fetched a wheelchair and pushed Alton into it despite protests from doctors and nurses.
âHis wounds could still be fatal! He canât be moved!â
âNot going means weâre all dead anyway,â Rouston said grimly, wheeling Alton away.
At another hospital, Georgia lay pale and unconscious after having her stomach pumped.
Though the doctor a*sured him sheâd be fine, his heart ached Ile quickly called Cora, who arrived in minutes with Byron in low.
âWhat happened? She was okay last night!â
Cora exclaimed, stricken.
Byron looked equally upset, especially at seeing Efren holding Georgiaâs hand.
âFood poisoning,â Efren explained. âShe ate something bad with scum. But they pumped her stomach. Sheâll recover.â
He squeezed Georgiaâs hand protectively as he spoke.
Byronâs glare darkened.
âScum? You?â He snapped.
This lecherous old man was seducing his nicce!
Cora stroked Georgiaâs hair, sick with concern.
Hearing Byronâs outburst, she rushed over.
âWatch your mouth!â
Though secretly, sheâd thought Efren and Georgia were perfect for each other and had mourned for them previously.
Now, seeing them together again, she couldnât help hoping they would reconcile.
Byron pointed at their clasped hands.
âBut look at what heâs done!â
âWell...â Cora knew Byron was having trouble accepting his nieceâs suitor being his own childhood buddy.
So she wanted to gently urge Efren to let go of Georgiaâs hand for the moment, to give Byron some time.
But Efren held firm, meeting Byronâs gaze.
âWeâre already together. Even your wife knows.â
Byron stiffened, shooting an accusatory look at Cora too, for hiding this from him.
Relieved by Georgiaâs diagnosis, sheâd just relaxed when Efrenâs words made her tense up again.
Though sheâd hinted often enough, Byron refused to accept the truth about them.
But Byron wouldnât make their disagreement worse in public. He only scolded Efren coldly.
âHow dare you touch a young girl!â
âI think youâre the expert there,â Efren retorted meaningfully.
As Efren responded to Byron, he glanced sideways at Cora.
Coraâs sense of unease only grew.
