Chapter Eleven
Uncharted Territory
I told you I'd make it up to you for making the last chapter so short, so here's a chapter in Alice's point of view!
Alice POV
When I locked eyes with Marcus in the rear view mirror I could tell that he was confused. I'll have to explain everything to him when Adrian is skating, I thought.
As soon as we arrived at the rink Adrian was the first one out of the car. I sighed and stepped out, taking my time to walk inside.
I settled at a table closest to the rink so I could keep an eye on Adrian, I didn't want him to overwork himself again.
"Why were you so concerned when he said he wanted to come here?" Marcus asked.
I sighed, "I knew you were going to ask that."
I was silent for a few seconds then I glanced at Marcus, only to see that he was looking at me expectantly.
I sighed again, "whenever he's extremely mad, sad, or any extreme emotion he always wants to come here to skate."
"Why is that a bad thing?"
"Because he tends to overwork himself."
Marcus glanced to where Adrian was in the rink and I could see worry in his eyes. "How badly has he overworked himself?"
"Let's just say that most of the hospital staff know him by name."
I watched as Marcus mouthed an 'oh'.
"He always loved to skate," I continued to explain, "As long as I've known him he would always get so excited when someone mentioned ice skating." I glanced at Marcus, "Not many people know that Adrian loved to skate, and how amazing of a skater he is. Mostly us, the regulars here, and Chuck."
"Chuck?"
I nodded, "Chuck is the man who owns this place. He's been like a dad to Adrian..." I trailed off when I noticed that Marcus was no longer paying any attention to what I was saying. He was staring at Adrian, his cheeks were red and his eyes were wide. I could tell he truly liked Adrian, it was quite obvious, really.
"So..." I started, "You like Adrian, huh?"
His head snapped towards me so fast that I was worried he was going to hurt himself.
"W-what?" He stuttered, "N-no! I'm s-straight!" He flailed his arms around as he said that.
I snorted, "Oh honey, you are FAR from straight."
I watched as he ran his hands through his hair, "How'd you know?" He asked with a sigh.
I snorted again, "Dude, it's actually really obvious. The only person who hasn't noticed is Adrian. And that's just because he has a hard time looking you in the eye and is actually really dumb."
I frowned, "I don't know what to do." I mumbled.
"Hmm, I don't know, maybe ASK HIM OUT?" I said with a roll of my eyes.
"Okay, your sarcasm was not appreciated. And I can't do that!"
"Why not?"
"He doesn't like me like that! I mean I know he's gay but he most definitely doesn't like me like-" I reached up and smacked him on the back of the head.
"OW! The hell was that for?"
"You guys are so dense," I grumbled. "He likes you, you dummy!"
"I don't know if I can trust you or not."
"Alright," I said with another eye roll, "You'll just have to wait for him to confess to you.
Marcus nodded, "I'd much rather do that."
I rolled my eyes for the millionth time that night, and studied the rink, looking for Adrian. I was surprised to see him headed our way. I carefully watched as he exited the rink. He doesn't look too tired, I thought, that's good, I wouldn't want lover boy over here to worry.
"Are you ready to go?" I asked when Adrian made his way over to us.
"Yeah," he nodded. He looked directly at Marcus and added, "Thank you for taking me here."
I watched as Marcus's cheeks and ears turned red, "No problem," he said quietly. I rolled my eyes at their obliviousness.
And the award for most oblivious lovers goes to... ADRIAN AND MARCUS! I thought with a small chuckle.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when Marcus stood up and headed towards the door with Adrian at his side. I followed, shaking my head at how awkward they were. Adrian probably thinks that Marcus is just weirded out with the whole Blake thing, I thought. Little does he know.
I ended up being the last one in the car, it's not at all surprising, when I'm thinking I tend to walk really slow.
"Finally," Adrian said as I got in the car, "That took you like five years."
"Oookay, suurree," I said sarcastically with yet ANOTHER eye roll.
I smiled as Adrian laughed. I was glad that he had something to get his mind off of his problems, even if he did happen to overwork himself sometimes.
I was only partly listening to their conversation, but I knew that I didn't really care about what video game was coming out next month. Adrian was going talking about all the cool graphics and the new characters, even thought he really-truly-didn't know a single thing about what he was talking about.
"Alice, are you even listening?" Adrian asked.
I looked at him and smirked, "Yes, it just takes me a while to process so much stupid all at once."
Adrian gasped in shock, "I have NEVER been so insulted!" He exclaimed with his hand over his heart.
"You don't listen much, do you." I monotoned.
He gasped again, "Rude!"
Marcus just laughed and told us that we were at the apartment. I grabbed my bag and headed up the stairs, I skipped the elevator. I could hear Adrian grumbling about having to take the stairs and I heard Marcus chuckle. I smiled at how childish Adrian was.
When we got to their floor I could see someone sitting out in the hallway in front of Marcus and Adrian's door. I swear to all that is holy, if that is Blake I will break. His. Nose. I thought as I stomped down the hallway. When I got close enough to see that it was indeed Blake I was in full-blown rage mode. I was ready to beat his sorry ass.
"Alice!" I heard Adrian shout. I turned around to see him running up to me. "Don't do anything to him."
"Why not?" I said angrily.
"Because," Answered Marcus, "Our neighbor is a cop and I'd rather not have you arrested."
"Are you SURE I can't punch him in the face?" I looked at Blake to see him smiling at us.
"Yes." Said Adrian with his arms crossed.
"What if I just break his nose a little?"
"No."
I sighed, "Fine," I growled. Instead of punching him, I used my boot clad foot and shoved him away from the door. I took the keys from Adrian and unlocked the door, keeping my foot on Blake's knee so he couldn't stand up.
I ushered Marcus and Adrian into their apartment, telling them to go to Adrian's room, then I released Blake's knee and he was up on his feet in seconds. I blocked the doorway with my arm and knocked on the neighbors door, the neighbor that was a cop, to be exact. I then hurried into the apartment and started to close the door, Blake stuck his foot in the door to stop it.
"Alice." He said in a threatening tone.
I then proceeded to kick his knee cap, "Go die in a hole." I spat.
